Good Points: Just fantastic - great chef, great stories and great recipes!!
Bad Points: None!!
General comments: Rick Stein's French Odyssey is just another fantastic cookbook from this superb chef. The book is full of his story down the length and breadth of France via the canals, telling of little villages and towns he stopped at and the cuisine he ate on the way. I must say I was very envious on first reading the book, and even more so when I watched the series.
It is classic French cooking at its best - from Bouillbaise to Poule Au Pot, rabbit, foie gras, traditional peasant dishes and more modern classics - they are all in this fabulous book.
Rick Stein has got to be my favourite chef, with his simplist views, and his enthusiasm about food - he makes the food jump of the pages at you. Another fantastic book from one of Britain's greatest chefs. Keep up the good work Rick!
