Good Points: Big tyres - Doubles up as a boat in flood water!
Bad Points: - Sometimes the dash board looks like Blackpool illuminations! - Can't buy it in Barbie Pink - My mum hates my bug, calling it a impractical bubble car for posers! (I think she is just jealous because she drives like a girl racer in a granny Mobile).
General comments: I have had my VW Beetle since March 05. It is a right girly car which The Volkswagen Beetle 1.6 SR comes complete with a vase and flowers in the front. The car has been very reliable, and so far has broke down only once when I had a blonde moment and left a light on in the car and wore the battery out!
I must admit that I have had a few occasions where loads of warning lights have come on - Like the time when heavy rain caused huge floods in my area. The only choice I had was to go through it, so me and my bug floated down the road, and one by one the dash lit up like a Christmas tree - but it didn't break!! Mind you, I remember the time when cars broke down when they were broke, not flashed at you like a bleacher beacon!
You are very low down in the car, and I tend to guess when parking, as the car is very wide and you can not see the front or the back. I think VW should install parking sensors! That would be a top banana addition to an already superb car. The bug is surprisingly roomy inside, although watch how you go over speed humps, because if you have anyone in the back they could end up bopping there head on the low roof (like I did with my poor grandad).
The boot is quite small (yes the boot is at the back, and the engine at the front), but if you are taking the family to the airport, it's like fitting pieces into a jigsaw puzzle. The odd shape of the car is not good for fitting family and bags in - this is the only drawback I have found so far.
Steering is a lot heavier than sister cars such as the Polo (it's actually modeled on the Golf), and I can only describe it as a pocket rocket that sticks to the road - even at high speed.
Great car - Just wish I could get the life size model of the Barbie Bug in pink!
