this is a scam, pet owners beware!!!!!! my dog was taken to the vet for a skin condition 3 months ago and after submitting all the paperwork for a $328.00 claim they sent a letter denying the claim because according to them that type of treatment was not covered by the policy, called them and was told that the reason for denial was because they did not receive the proper paperwork from the vet's office, when back to the vet's office and told the manager that they needed all the paperwork since we first bought the dog.they WILL give you the runaround like they did to us.I just canceled the policy.this people are thieves.

DO NOT buy this Insurance.......total rip off.......my dog had Surgery and they only paid two hundred dollars out of a $3,000 Bill...I looked at their Booklet and everything SHOULD have been covered..I think they decline everything and hope people will not complain......I had serious medical problems and did not have time to fight them......but someone should contact the Insurance Dept in their State and ask for an investigation........thank goodness for the internet....I hope no one else gets r ...

This company will say whatever you want to hear to get you to sign up. Not one of my claims has been paid and was told on the phone that the treatment I submitted for would be covered... Do not sign up with this company - a huge headache and major heartache. They are not concerned about the well being of your pet.

VPI has been unprofessional, slow and unhelpful so far. They have 'lost' all the information the Vet faxed them 2 months ago already, and didn't bother to tell me they had put the claim on hold. They also failed to inform me they were having difficulties with my credit card, and that the plan was in arrears. I'm changing insurers.

Having had a silky terrier that developed atypical cushings at age 10 and lived quite well and happy until 16 made me realize how costly elderly animals can be. She had no insurance and sometimes her care cost around $600.00 a month. While worth every penny, i happily chose her health and cut back on lots of things. i would still choose the same route. Having that information, I knew when I added a new pup to the family that it would be wise to get insurance for her. I chose VPI because my ...

VPI Pet Health Insurance have never paid a claim (other than $9 after a deductible). What is worse, is that after flatly stating that a proposed procedure would be covered on the telephone, they denied the claim. And this was in the face of a writtten medical diagnosis stating that their position was wrong. As a result the Vet is no longer recommending VPI

Our son gave us a policy for VPI as a gift with our collie pup 18 months ago. Since that time I have submitted four separate claims to VPI. All were rejected. They issue a form listing many illnesses they cover but always seem to find a reason to reject your claim. I just told my son to cancel the policy. There must be an honest company out there somewhere. VPI is NOT it.

This is my experience with Veterinary Pet Insurance (VPI) Pet Health Insurance. I submitted my claim for E&L pet insurance on 21st December 2008. In January I got a reply saying my claim was being looked into. Despite two further phone calls, the first which did confirm my claim was being paid, I have still not received payment. The reason given was volume of cheques being issued! I don't think this is good enough! I was then asked to phone back in 2 weeks so it seems there is no intention of th ...

Just got a retriever from a rescue and had him checked out by two different vets for a clean bill of health. About two weeks later he comes down with kennel cough and pneumonia. I had to take him to the emergency vet where he received IV anti-biotics. He had to stay at our vet for an additional 5 days on IV anti-biotics. Pets meds paid for an x-ray and the first night of anit-biotics and that was it!. I paid over $3000 and barely got back $300. I don't think this insurance is worth it, esp ...

We have a basenji who had some surgeries in the past. The first time, the claim was paid without a problem. The second surgery they denied and we had to fight tooth and nail to get paid. The 3rd surgery, which was different (for his eyes) was refused even though ever code was covered under the benefit book. For almost ten years, we have paid $40.00 a month for our dogs insurance; yet when we need to use the policy they refused to pay. Because our dog has a pre-existing condition, we are stuck wi ...

I have had VPI Pet Insurance from the get go with my puppy. I really don't have much to complain about except the fact that it takes them a while to get the claims in and processed. I agree with other reviewers that it takes LONGER than normal, but I have had only 2 claims. We'll see how much I get back for the spaying of my puppy. Most people I know just ditch the VPI after you get all the puppy stuff done. I'll probably keep the insurance until she's 1.

I do not recommend VPI. If I could I would pick up another insurer, but my dogs are 9 years old and there's nothing I can do about it, but continue with this insurer. In 9 years of coverage, had to repeatedly send in claims because they were lost (although my guess is due to complaints they have improved somewhat in this area); coverage is not good in my opinion, much less than other plans (ex dental $45 vs. ASPCA $240+). Just this week they have deliberately misread my claim, shorting me on ...

I've had VPI insurance for 3 years with NO claims. In January 2008, I had 2 claims for pet's eye infection. I paid $143 for vet's fees and meds. I got $59 back after weeks of waiting. I tried cancelling the policy for 18 days. Got the run-around that emails, faxes, etc. were never received. I finally threatened them to forward all emails to State Insurance Commissioner. VPI said they would keep the monthly premium for February 2008. I told them NO WAY!! VP has very POOR service...only g ...

Veterinary Pet Insurance is not worth the money. Too much bother for little back. They told me something when you call then didn't apply it my your policy. Looking for better service. They tell you later you need to submit writen notice. All I wanted to do was change my name when I got married. They said it was taken care of but then months later I was told I had to submit a written request. Yet they changed the name on my debt card for payment right away....

I recently submitted a claim in the amount of $4,291.89 for a family pet that became drastically ill and passed away all in the same week. It was devastating to our family and friends as he was part of our new begginning in our new home etc. The reason we keep insurance is so that we can provide the best care for our pets knowing that we are backed up by a large insurance company. When I received a check for 25% of the claim amount, it just added insult to injury and threw salt into our alrea ...

We have had the Veterinary Pet Insurance for about a year; paid annually. We opened VPI insurance to cover our Rottweiler in case of any major accident. A month ago he ran over a ball and did hurt his back leg. We had surgery done and he had cruciate rupture. It cost $3430.00. The VPI did not cover anything, not even a general anesthesia. We were left to pay insurance premiums plus the whole cost of the surgery. The explanation I was given by customer service was that they do not cover it in the ...

I had VPI for the first two years of my dog's life, and I will admit I was unhappy. I changed providers and spent the next year and a half just as frustrated but paying more and getting less back. So after careful research I gave VPI a second chance and I have to say they have changed drastically. No longer am I paying high premiums (even with the highest level of coverage) or waiting long periods to receive my cheques. Something has changed at VPI and it is for the better.

They are quick to respond to queries to enrol you, but then the service grinds to a halt.
Every time I call it is a ten minute wait--it usually takes four to six weeks to process claims-most non life threatening claims appear to be declined as either excluded or pre-existing.
This is my second dog insured with them, and of the six claims I have made-four have not been paid or paid at ridiculously low levels ($600 submitted and $85 paid on the last claim).
