Complete rubbish!!!! The 'revolutionary' internal filters block with lint from standard washing and hotpoint say pet hair can be too much for it to cope with! It takes them forever to get an engineer out and they don't do any evenings or weekends so it will cost you time off work too. Buy at your peril!!

Hotpoint 440 Washer/Drier. I hate this machine, it's been a nightmare to use. I've just been waiting for it to break down so I could justify changing it for something else. It is the worst machine I've EVER owned bar none in 40 years of housewifery.
The washer wasn't too bad but the drier was hell. The worst thing about it was that having set the timer and started the programme you can't stop it or open the door until it finishes, and it takes ages, much longer than the time you set as it has so ...- Read Guest's review (339 words)

Similar story...had Hotpoint WD440P 2 years and had to call out engineers over 4 times. Broke again today after last repair 2 days ago.
Relative worked for Hotpoint and advised me never to buy Hotpoint as they are poorly built and don't last(too late. Also advised never by a combi machine..."Jack of all trades master of none" does 2 jobs nowhere near as good as a machine designed to do the one job. "Schoolboy error"
Engineer told me "There are no good Hotpoint/Indesit machines on the market an ...- Read Guest's review (108 words)

WD440P Hotpoint Washer Dryer
I wish I had read the other reviews before buying one of these 18 months ago.
Last weekend we had lots of flashing lights and the machine just stopped washing part way through a cycle. Engineer didn't come out for several days... two days later it has packed up again and they won't come out for another 5 days. No warranty after one year so they gave us the choice of £130 per call out or £160 for another year's warranty.
Also, the dials on the front ...- Read Guest's review (123 words)

I thought that the Hotpoint WD 420P would be a good machine. It worked well for 3 years and then stopped working.- Read Guest's review (24 words)

The Hotpoint Indesit WD440P washer dryer; unreliable, noisy and bar far the worst appliance I have EVER purchased. I bought it nearly 3 years ago (it broke down in the first 12 months) and have had an engineer out over 18 times to fix it (for the same reason I might add the problem is always F13). What a complete waste of money! I think I will go back to hand washing my clothes.- Read gmonie's review (78 words)

Purchased the hotpoint wd440p washer dryer in May last year, it has never dried properly, and after a couple of unsuccessful engineer repairs, I gave up calling them.
Then in March of this year I came home from work and the washing machine was still washing the clothes after 8 hours..... the cycle would not cancel, and the only way of stopping it is to turn it off at the wall. 3 engineer visits (and 3 weeks after the first phone call) I was told the machine was repaired, and left the mach ...- Read clairedevon's review (184 words)

The Hotpoint WD440P is the worst purchase I have ever made. I have had the washer dryer for approx 2.5 years in this time I have had an engineer out 4 times to fix the same fault on the motor. It is over 3 months since I had this same fault fixed and it has happened again! they now want ANOTHER £100 from me to fix the same fault again!!! I purchased this machine as I thought hotpoint was a respected make how WRONG. I have now decided enough is enough and have given the scrap man this p ...- Read russell77's review (121 words and 1 comment)

I have had my Hotpoint WD440P washer/dryer for just 5 months now and it appears now that it won't dry the clothes, in fact they are coming out wetter than when they went in. I also think that it is failing to heat up on the wash cycle. I bought mine from Tesco's and have to wait 5 days before an engineer can come out to me. After reading all of these reviews I'm sure it won't be the first time this will happen which I'm not prepared to accept. I have asked for a refund or exchange for a differen ...- Read Guest's review (123 words)

During a drying programme my Hotpoint WD440P stops and the lights on the front panel flash. Our machine is not 5 months old and Comet have sent out 2 engineers with a 3rd engineer arriving next week. On the 2 engineer visits so far they have both replaced different parts. Not happy at all with this and will be taking this matter further after reading other reviews of this product.- Read simmo751's review (71 words)

My Hotpoint WD440P is so unreliable - the dryer stopped working very early on, and has not worked since. The noise of the unit after 14 months is unbearable - the bearings must be going or something. It was quiet for the first few months, but has gradually deteriorated despite the fact that it is installed on a dead-level surface. The quality of the wash is very inconsistent - often you have to re-wash.Having tried to speak with Hotpoint I can only conclude that good customer service is a thing of ...- Read Guest's review (116 words)

I also got this washer/dryer and I must say it is worst washing machine I've used. The noise levels are insane when it is on final spin. It vibrates the own kitchen area and can be heard everywhere in my flat and my neighbours can hear it! The engineer didn't even bother turning up to check our machine.I've found Zanussi to be a good make.- Read halmat's review (67 words)

After one and a half years use with this model , including one replacement, and several visits from the engineer, have had to give up on it. Once upon a time we though Hotpoint equipment good value - not anymore.- Read Guest's review (39 words)

I was a bit dubious about getting an all in one washer dryer, but I really like this. It was the cheapest I could find, and you get what you pay for they say. There are 2 fast washes, 30oc and 60 oc. There is also a super wash which is handy for really dirty stuff. The 1400 spin is sufficient. This machine is quite clever, in the way it does quick burst tumbles in the wash and rinse cycles. I have guessed this ensures they are forced through the water to ensure good results, and this shows!

The Hotpoint WD440P was the cheapest I could find, and was a bit dubious when buying an all in one washer dryer. But I am pleased with the results. I wouldn't recommend to big families, as drying large loads in this takes forever, and come out very creased. Saying that, it suits us as a couple, and I have grown to really like this! Considering how much a separate washer and dryer cost, this was great value for money.- Read eddyrama's review (89 words)

I had the misfortune to own this Hotpoint WD440P Washer Dryer for 8 months. In that time I had no less than 7 engineer visits to repair my machine. The machine had 2 new computers fitted and 5 repairs due to the machine not completing a cycle. I once left it for over 12 hours and it was still rinsing!
Hotpoint customer service was the worst I have ever encountered. They refused to replace the machine or refund my money and I eventually was forced to take them to court after contacting my ...- Read trickywoo's review (121 words)

My Hotpoint WD440P Washer Dryer broke down 7 times in the space of six months. I bought the machine from Powerhouse who refused to replace it without authorisation from Hotpoint. Hotpoint refused to replace it claiming that each fault was different (it was in fact the same fault each time). I eventually got a full refund after initiating legal action through the small claims court.
I will never buy any goods bearing the Hotpoint or Indesit logo again. Their customer service is so bad I' ...- Read trickywoo's review (101 words)

Within 6 days of buying the Hotpoint WD440P washer dryer the dryer broke down and I had to insist on a new machine, which they begrudgingly delivered; Then the next machine broke down 6 times in 5 months; in fact the engineer was at my house that often I knew where he was going on holiday, and how his son was playing up!
The dryer fuses out, and the spin cycle went. I eventually threatened legal action, and they have now agreed to give me a refund! The engineer told me "under no circumstance ...- Read strawberrygirl's review (106 words)

First fault with the Hotpoint WD440P was within a day of buying it when the dryer stopped working and each time it started, it fused the electrics for the whole house. Engineer came out and replaced a part. Two weeks later, things get worse when it starts moving across the floor when spinning (even when empty). It then fills so much that water starts coming out of the powder/conditioner tray flooding my conservatory. It now doesn't spin at all!!
I rejected it back to Empire Direct under the S ...- Read hydel's review (126 words)
