    Good Points: Thick
    Fat Tip
    Weight Matched Pair

General comments: I have been playing the drums for 15 years, and I have tried most of the drum sticks out there. BUT I always return to the old favourites, Vic Firth. My stick bag has about 20 pairs of sticks, including brushes, felts, bamboo, and both wood and nylon tipped sticks, and all are Vic Firth. Extremely good workmanship on all their goods, and as each pair of stick is matched for weight and tonal quality, they are the ideal stick for the discerning drummer.

I mainly use the SD9 Driver as I have big hands and hit the drums REALLY hard. I find this stick better than most as the shaft has a slightly thicker diameter, so I find it easier to hold, and the tip has a nice tear shape to really beat out those old blues rock numbers.

The sticks are coated, but unlike some sticks, Vic Firth use a very soft varnish so there is no residue left on your hands after playing. In fact they feel like natural wood so you can carry on playing without your hands getting sweaty and the sticks flying all over the shop, and blinding the guitarist!

I cannot find a bad point with these sticks - I know that sounds remarkable, but each pair of sticks I have purchased (and in 15 years that is quite a few...) I have really enjoyed playing with them. The odd pair have broken within the first 5 minutes of playing, but as they are wood and therefore a natural product, this can happen and is not a fault in manufacture.

Basically, I would say USE VIC FIRTH STICKS to any drummer who wants consistent playability and reliability from the wood in his or her hand. The range is there, from jazz sticks to the mental thrash metal type.
