Good Points: The most accurate air rifle I have ever had at 50 yards. It is light weight and easly to handle. The magazine cycles smoothly.

Bad Points: The barrel is free floated inside the shroud and you can hear it moving when you shake the rifle. It is kind of unnerving and It is hard to believe it shoots so well.

General comments: This review is on the new Daystate Huntsman Classic in .22 Caliber. I have had this rifle for 9 weeks and had a change to ring it out, so here are the particulars. This is a new rifle recently released by Daystate; it has the new Harper MK4 valve and a classic stock which makes the rifle look more like a traditional firearm. It is only 38 inches long with a 15.75" factory shrouded barrel and is extremely quiet (backyard friendly) and weighs 6.0 lbs. It has a manual safety and satin finish; it comes with the one Daystate 10 round magazine (I purchased 3 magazines) at $99 dollars each, not cheap! I have a 50 yard range set up on my 7 acres. Here are some 5 shot groups at that range. 14.3 grain Crosman Premiers = 0.328" (avg 866 fps & 23.3 fp); 18.0 grain JSP = 0.512" (avg 788 fps & 24.8 fp). The wind was calm and almost perfect conditions.

Get a huntsman mk2 and diver bottle and the best scope you can afford, i use a 16x40 tasco range finder. I have owned a huntsman mk2 for 6 years now and never had any bother from it,set it up right and hit what you aim at every time,on a good evening 21/2-3 hours take home 27 rabbits all with a little hole just behind the eye, never go home without a meal in the bag, fitted a ten shot mag 5 years ago and never looked back. After 6 years still looking for a bad point

An excellent and silent hunting rifle. A little heavy for some, but for kneeling or prone hunting its fine. In my opinion too heavy for HFT.

I bought the Daystate Huntsman Mk 11 second hand in .177. It's my first PCP rifle but not the first PCP I have fired. What can I say - I'm very impressed! I can hit a cigarette at 30 meters standing up and I haven't practised all that much. The trajectory is really flat on the .177 caliber and I would recommend it. I also use this rifle for a spot of hunting / pest control. It will easily deal with squirrels despite the small calibre as long as you are accurate and hit the kill zone -easy with ...

I own 2 daystates mk IIs, one in .177 and one in .22. Both guns are PCPS - pre-charged pneumatics. Both were second-hand and both have been owned by me for a couple of years. I'll review my other air rifles later. See http://www.scotnet.co.uk/jon/guns/Pellet_tests.html for the behaviour of the .22 gun on a wide range of Pellets. See http://www.scotnet.co.uk/jon/guns/177pellet_tests.html for the behaviour of the.177. The .177 carries further (40m easily) and has plenty of power at ...

The Daystate Huntsman Mk II air rifle I used a Mk.I Huntsman to great effect in FT during the late 80's and early 90's. I won a championship, finished 11th in the Grand Prix series and won a few trophies at local level. Selling that particular rifle back in 1992 is something I've regretted ever since! Back in August 2001, I started looking for a rifle to practice with to get back into the swing of FT again. I have owned a wide variety of air rifles over the years from a BSA Meteor to the ...

The Daystate Huntsman Mk11 is a well built PCP Airgun, the striker mechanism is also well designed, which incorparates two springs, a main striker spring and also what I presume to be a damper spring to deaden the striker noise down to a tiny knock, barely audible. I have tampered with this airgun and with very simple modification, achieved 42 ft/lb. Daystate charge £35 to uprate to 35 ft/lb and £150 to uprate to 50+ ft/lb. Why there is such a big difference I do not know. Although ...
