I am writing to complain about the unprofessional practice and attitude of one of the staff in Didsbury Office. I made a booking to view a house-to-let at 153 Mauldeth Road West at 5pm on 15th May 2013. For your information, I received a confirmation text from Bridgford (07557634164) with regard to the booking straight after my call to him on 14th May (Tuesday). At 4:50pm on the day I arrived at the property and waited for his arrival. After half an hour of waiting, I called Bridgford only... (read more)

pressuring, high fees and bad information given. Referring to the stockton branch here, in particular the branch manager called lynn, who was as fierce as a bulldog. Told after paying a holding deposit the house had been put back on the market and the deposit would be refunded within 4 weeks as we were asking for a second viewing. Was also told the cheque could not possibly be sent via recorded delivery as this was not company policy. overall such a bad experience we did not like how we... (read more)

Found some properties on comparison sites that were listed by Bridgfords. Proceeded to contact them to arrange viewings. Wanted to view some properties in the same area, so I suggested we do them all on the same day. Problems listed below: - Bridgfords didn't even offer to send an estate agent out with me. They expected me to see all properties on my own. 'Isn't a good use of our time' was the reason given... speechless. - They triple-booked me, scheduling all three viewings for the same... (read more)

This company managed my property for me over a two year period, during which time there were repairs to the bath and a new shower fitted. Their in-house tradesman did not reseal the bath and left water to soak down the wall onto the floor underneath. All the time, I was being charged top dollar for 'property maintenance services' including periodic checks. When the tenants moved out and I had a chance to inspect the property myself, I was horrified at the state of the bathroom. Bridgfords... (read more)

I have lived in a shared occupancy house now for three months. Bridgfords are the letting agency for the Landlords, they find them tenants and then have no responsibilities to look after those tenants after the tenancy has been signed. Any complaints or issues have to be addressed directly to the landlords. Now, my landlords, I do not have the words to describe how I feel towards them, in fact I feel that I have to be careful here so I wont say anything. But, my point is going to be that... (read more)

I can't for a second believe the positive reviews on here are genuine. Very rude people. They have a tough job and I feel sorry for them. It can’t be easy taking the money of honest hard working people in such an un-ethical way (since the majority of their money comes from immoral charges). Update: I have found a lovely cottage to rent and can move out this weekend, with three months left outstanding on my tenancy here. The landlords are refusing to refund my deposit as I am apparantly in breach of my contract, even though they do not have a HMO Licence to operate as legal Landlords. My life is in serious threat here because of the Fire Safety risks, so,surely I can not be expected to continue living here for another three months, yet I am breaking my contract?? Hilarious!!!! Bridgfords are not interested - they just told me I should dispute it myself.
Good news: Just researched and found - Massive fines of £20,000 for landlords not having a HMO Licence and huge fines for each breach of Fire Safety Order - as it is a criminal offence to put tenants in potential life threatening danger. Some landlords have been given custodial sentences. Should the lettings agents be punished too????? Are they as much in the wrong and flaunting the law.????. Also, Tenants can not be evicted by landlord if he doesn't have HMO Licence, and can claim back rent paid to him through council rent tribunal, upto 12 months. You can ask you local council office to check if you think your landlord has no LIcence and you are living in a House of Multilpe Occupancy, and get help with getting the property safe. Environmental health and Fire Risk departments are worth chatting to and will happily have a visit to your property and a chat to the landlord. ( this is just how I have interpreted research on the Internet and news reports on landlord convictions and should not be taken as fact.)
