Good Points: Nothing Exceptional tbh pretty average bike

General comments: The peaky engine of the Yamaha FZ6 has to be the worst thing about it! having to get the revs beyond 8k to find any power is completely wrong for this type of bike it really should have more torque so you end up using the gearbox way to often and thats not too slick either!
    Build quailty very marginal
    Clutch heavy for town work
Japanese reliability must be a myth! had lots of visits to the dealer until they finally changed the TPS!
Completely wrong engine for the type of bike put me of Jap in line fours for good!

I have had my Yamaha FZ6 (04) for 2 years and I absolutely love it. I commute on it every day, all year round, and it still looks as good as new. It does everything you want it too and it's a comfortable ride.

I have a 2004 FZ6 and can honestly say is is the best bike I have ever ridden. I have added Akrapovich SP exhaust to it and the sound and power increase is amazing. Never fails to turn heads and it pops and gurgles just like a GP bike when the throttle is closed off. Highly addictive and a great looking bike. Pulls cleanly through the gears but above 6-7000 really starts to motor. Stops well too and is just as happy on the motorway or filtering through the London rush hour traffic. All in all a ...

Very responsive and obedient. Good at lower speeds, very fast when you want it. Comfortable riding position (v important) although not pure touring. Relative lightweight but glued to ground on bends at speed. Great emergency braking. Crazy speed at high revs. Great shape, attention-grabber everywhere.
FZ6 S2 naked in white 2007 version. I got this bike after owning smaller bikes. I am very satisfied with it and although I am not experienced in a great deal of bikes, I DOUBT very much if there a ...

Best in size class hands down. No need to look further.
Handling, power, and balance is superb for it's size class. Center stand for easy maintenance. Excellent fuel capacity. More comfortable seating position due to handle bar positioning. Reasonable pricing. Great for experienced or beginners.
Seat height ok for 5'7" or taller. Shorter riders - not the best choice.

Great engine, quite mild mannered around the city (under 8000rpm) from about 600rpm, real power lies between 8000rpm - 12000rpm, where the bike performs a lot like it's r6 donor engine.
Fantastic budget bike. High quality build, very well suited to modification.

Mine is an 08 model in silver. Looks very sharp. When opened up the exhausts growl and the engine just sounds better the faster you go. Must do the headlight modification and have the two on at the same time.

After logging 49K on my '04 FZ6, in May of '07 I traded it in on an '07 FZ6 which had addressed all shortcomings of the '04 (e.g. absence of helmet lock, improved instrument pod, all black vs aluminum underbody, better seat locking, cleaner front fairing/windscreen, better tweaked for enhanced midrange get up and go.
14 months into my '07 ownership I have 32K on it including 10K for a cross country camping trip using large Ortlieb (sp?) waterproof soft luggage.
    I am 75 years old. 75 years old! ...

Great bike. The only bad point is loud and hard gearbox, especcialy when shifting in 1 st and second gear.

Best 600 on market. Best bike I owned, Great midrange despite what reviews say,
Hit 8000 rpm and bike goes like a rocket which is cotrollable.

late 2007 model S2 Yamaha. Great middleweight. Tried the street triple, bandit and hornet - price/performance wise this is tops. Floats into corners, accelerates/brakes/handles brilliantly. 2-up its stable and easy to ride. Finish is excellent, should last. Attracts looks cruisin through town (maybe its the strange person on top). Looking forward to a great summer.
A great bike for burning up country roads - lots of fun-factor. Can't wait to ride home at night.

This is a fantastic all round bike. I'd recommend it to anyone! You can ride it in low revs to keep the engine quiet and not wake the neighbours but as soon as you get on the road you can open it up and it creates quite a sound. The control and feel is great and it handles well even with someone on the back. I use mine to commute and as a tourer bike (I got some fabric panniers that do the job well). When windy it can be a little choppy, but I've driven faired bikes that react badly when hit wit ...

What do bike journo's know? They say the bike only works if you rev it to the redline, they say the brakes are rubbish, they say the bike nicked it's looks from the MV Brutale...
    Absolute nonsense.
The engine pulls cleanly if you're in the right gear fellas, (it's a 600 remember?), and I've hit 135mph on British roads without taking it to the redline, yes it's revvy, but it's from the old R6 so what did you expect?
The brakes can handle more than everyday speeds, they don't lock easily and are o ...

I love this bike and not just because it's my first "big" bike. I've ridden a few others in the same class, ER-5, GS-500 etc. Albeit not for the same period of time and this outstrips everything I have ridden.Mine is the fared version which adds to the looks with the "fox eyes" headlamps borrowed from the R1. The faring doesn't keep all the wind off but it is noticeable compared to "naked" bikes I've ridden. Ride comfort is great, giving good road vision and no back-ache. I've seen others say th ...

I currently have other bikes, 1999 R1/ 2004 R1, 999 Ducatiand a 1977 GS 550 Suzuki. The bike that I ride the most is the FZ6 as I have more fun on it compared to the others.
The FZ still records 140+ on the clock (on closed roads) which I feel is fast enough for most riders.
Breaks are better than most testers would have you believe and once you remove the cat it will rev faster and pull better through the rev range. Overall a great all round Motorcycle.

Fun to ride bike, that looks great and the Yamaha FZ6 doesn't drain your bank account. Comfortable ride, easy to maneuver in traffic, responsive, and lighweight. The only bad point I can find is there is no helmet lock.

The Yamaha FZ6 is an amazing bike if you want a bike that will get you to work, take you shopping and going out for the weekend ride with your friends. I ride with people who have R6's and R1's etc and I'm never left behind. This bike is quick, powerful, comfortable and never fails.

The Yamaha FZ6 motorbike is everything I wanted, but it's the little things. No helmet lock. The key is in such an out of the way place it's easy to leave it on the bike, and there is no storage at all. Every time I get a flat tyre it costs somewhere between $150 and $200.
