The setting of To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee is in a small racist town, Maycomb, Alabama in the 1930's. The story confronts the morally challenging situations developed there seen through the eyes of a nearly nine year old girl, Scout. Many themes are taught in this story. The theme taught by a main event is that human life is precious. Atticus, Scout's father is defending a black man accused of raping a white woman. Atticus works hard in defending Mr. Robinson, yet Mr. Robinson is con ...

I love Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird that much, that every time I see a copy, whether at a car boot sale or a charity shop, and it's an edition I don`t have, I must buy it. It is arguably the best novel ever written.

I bought To Kill a Mockingbird about 20 years ago, put it on a shelf and never got round to reading it. I am without a doubt guilty of neglecting a wonderful piece of literature, however now I have read it.
This is a wonderful book which I would recomend to everyone, told through the eyes of a little girl it's a story about her Dad. I dont want to say much more about the story because for some it might spoil the read. Just to say, 20 years older still I cried reading some passages. At time ...

Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee's moving and powerful novel deserves to remain as one of the most important 20th Century Classics. The moral story of a young girl named Scout and her understanding of the world she lives in attacks the prejudices of adulthood and the ignorance of man. The novel is centred on the issue of racism and the interaction of man with man. Exploring this theme, Harper views the world through the unprejudiced eyes of Scout and we watch as her views are shape ...
