Good Points: lightweight , quiet, very accurate, click adjustable peep sight with multiple front aperture inserts for varying distances and uses
Bad Points: low power, short stock, pot metal construction, low quality finish on wood
General comments: I bought the Daisy - Rogers Arkansas, USA Powerline 853 Air Rifle as a short distance plinker, target, and pest control rifle. I must say that I am very impressed with the ease that this rifle makes accurate shots. I regularly shoot the tops off blades of grass at 15 yards. the only drawbacks for this rifle are the short stock which comes with cheesy black inserts to lengthen it and somewhat cheap construction. For less money a Benjamin Sheridan is made with better materials, excluding the walther barrel on the Daisy. It feels somewhat delicate in my hands but after all it is not a sporter it's a 10 meter rifle. It performs that job flawlessly.
The Daisy 853 is the rifle I grab most often out of my collection of 4 because it is very quiet, lightweight, manuverable and causes little fatigue during long shooting sessions when compared to heavy springers and multi-pump pneumatics.

Good gun, don't pump it anything past 12 (preferably 10). I tried to compete with my friend's .22 with it, I didn't do too well. I decided that I needed a new gun, anyway, so I did 17. It ruined the air chamber(takes 10 just to get a BB or pellet out of the barrel) and I blew the barrel out (litterally 3 inches out of the outer barrel)!!!!!! VERY good starter gun or intermediate gun for taret shooting. Also a good bird gun. I shot and killed a bird right in the head with just 2 pumps!!!!!

The Daisy Target Model 853 air rifle is used by the Valley High School Junior ROTC's marksmanship class. The United States Army has found it to be easy to handle and safe for high school cadets.

The Daisy Powerline 853 is an excellent air rifle for Youth shooting competitions. It's .177 caliber lead pellet shoots an extreemly tight group on indoor ranges with the easily adjustable peep sights. The full size maple stock is very comfortable to shoot for the the average shooter, but could stand to be a tiny bit longer for us tall guys.
