Our fragile baggage was thrown in the hold, so broke, and then they made no attempt to remedy the position, delaying for months, not answering emails, wanting us to be out of pocket, bullying us into trying to accept an inadequate remedy. We still haven't got anywhere close to what most people would think is reasonable, and their emails always took the tone that somehow we were in the wrong (presumably for travelling with them!). I travelled, AI Heathrow_Mumbai_Bangalore flight on March 21. Its an afternoon flight scheduled to take off at 1.30 pm, however it took off at 2.10 pm ,a good 40 minutes delay somehow managed to reach Mumbai on time. I would never fly on air india and won't recommend any body to use this airline. I went to india after 23 years and i was flying with Delta. Delta doesn't go to Delhi. I flew from Frankfurt to BKK with a stop in Dehli and lived through the worst 15h hours flight I experienced so far. The crew was unfriendly. Worst example was that you got mean stares when you tried to go to the toilet because they needed to move their lazy asses to let you through. Travelled with my 3 yr old son alone from London to Bangalore. I was told that the bagged will be sent to Bangalore directly and I'll my Son's buggy as soon as I reach my destination. I flew from Singapore to Delhi in an A319. The flight itself was not too bad, staff were OK (though didn't ever seem very happy about anything) but food was pretty bad. The in-flight entertainment did not work. Unfortunately, a large proportion of the luggage was left in Singapore. We recently travelled LHR-Delhi_LHR AI 112 and AI111 in executive class and were really disappointed. The service at check in in both cities was fine but the lounges in both cities were a let down the London one was dingy and the supplied snacks were barely warm the selection of drinks was inadequate with champagne unavailable. I traveled from London Heathrow to Ahmedabad via Mumbai and return in economy and found the international sector very comfortable, convenient and value for money. Check-in both ways was hassle free and staff were polite. Meals and snacks were provided throughout the flight so you wont be left hungry. Firstly we could not book in online as the site was down- I called the help desk and no one could speak adequate enough English for us to get the help we required. On the aeroplane the seats and the plane was outdated and quite frankly had seen better days. All the films being shown were old and outdated! Although it did not matter as my TV did not work. Air India is ok for poor Indian's traveling coach but not for businessman. My experience: 1. Toilet water (yes stinky brown water) backflowing and overflowing all sinks ā totally gross 2. I am settled in Manhattan and go to my motherland, India, once a year. I have used AI flights on several occasions with mixed results. On positive side, it is reasonably priced for a direct flight from NY to New Delhi. Also, the ground services are decent. However, I would probably never travel with Air India again. BKK-DEL, airplane was so old, dirty, seats are from 60's and toilet reeks of moth balls, served same food as in coach in aluminum foil container, food was bad, really bad. I've have been flying with Air India for many year now and I have seen significant and very positive change over the past three years. They are not yet of the league of some other air carriers but they are getting closer. One of my sons who travels extensively for his employment also confirmed that they are much improved. I booked 10 tickets for my entire family to travel to India on the EWR-BOM-MAA-EWR route. One month before flying these guys changed a directly flight from EWR-BOM-MAA to JFK-PARIS-DEL-MAA with the only option of canceling my ticket rather than provide any reduction in price. Over the last weekend my parents have flown AI127. When we booked their flights we were told that this is a one stop direct flight (read not NON-STOP) from Hyderabad to Chicago. Firstly I flew on-board Air India from Singapore- Delhi and Delhi- Frankfurt. I always enjoy my flights on the airline. I flew on-board the Boeing 77-300ER. The seats were greatly designed with a good IFE, and good design for tall people like me and offered more personal space than on-board a Emirates Boeing 777-300ER. Air India has been the worst airline I've ever flown. My Flight from Seoul to Hong Kong (AI317) was dirty. There was trash on the floor along the outer cabin. My window was smeared with hair grease and after asking the flight attendant for a napkin to clean the window, she looked at me as if I were complaining about nothing. But Sir, you don't understand that the napkin was there for her to put makeup in the galleys and not to help you clean grease which should not have been there in the first place. her job is secure whether she smiles or not. When I went on Air India, (Singapore - Delhi & Hong Kong - Seoul) it was very good. The aircraft felt fresh and cabin crew were efficient. I flew on-board a Boeing 777-300ER and the seats were greatly designed for tall people like me. I was flaying from Chicago to Chennai and was hold in New Delhi Airport transfer area for 14 Hours. Even though there was fog and other Airlines flying Indian Airlines does not want fly. I noticed that a lot the earphones and tv screens were not working. The film choice was very poor, but the music choice was ok. Delhi airport is great if you like waiting in slow moving queues and also being delayed for 3 hours. Customer service was incredibly poor during them 3 hours, trying to get an answer to a simlpe question was impossible. Food wasn't good, the soggy tomato and cucumber sandwich which was stuck to my plate was the worst meal. 100% never using this airline again (read more)

On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate Air India at -10. It's unbelievable and beyond frustrating how incompetent the customer service reps are at Air India. I have flown 100's of flights over twenty years and in my life have I never experienced such poor service as the service by air India. Both of my domestic flights in India were late - never on time. Constantly shuffled between service desks and gates. The airline is chaotic. My flight between Mumbai and Singapore more than 3 hours late causing me to miss my connecting Sydney flight. I booked Air India flight from London to Hyderabad(India) for my wife and child and I deeply regret at the chaos all over the journey both ways. Leave alone I travel on this utterly rubbish airline again I would never suggest to anyone. Few highlights from my experience:

Sorry for the delayed response. Not at all. I checked in at Chennai all the way New York. Similarly, I did the customs and immigration at Chennai. When I went from New York to Chennai, I did all the customs and immigration at Chennai. Also, my bag was checked in all way from New York to Chennai. So, I just roamed about in Delhi. When I landed at Delhi, AI staff were friendly and helpful. They guided us properly during the transit.
