Good Points: Plenty of variation uncluttered detailing easy to attain an acceptable standard
Bad Points: The difficulty levels are unrealistic...at the highest difficulty rating the game is unplayable unless frustration and slaughter is your thing.
General comments: The expansion pack which came with Bold Age of Empires Gold Edition included 5 different civilizations with new campaigns so there is a great deal of variety. The game is customisable once you've finished all the campaigns but I found the set scenarios immensely enjoyable and returned regularly to do battle. The detail is fantastic and the the controls are simple but by far the best feature is it's quick pick-up time, ie you'll be competing in no time. Regularly saving your games is essential to avoid heartbreak as you will find yourself having to repeat the steps such as technology advances just to get back where you started...fortunately this is easy enough. I loved the fact that you could win in several different ways involving technology the height of your civilization or more usually, all out war and that defeat and setbacks didn't necessarily mean the end of that particular level. Be warned the game is highly addictive as the clock in the finished screen shot will testify to...I have lost hours and hours of my life to this game and enjoyed every minute!
