I must admit, I normally loathe these types of programme and stumbled on the OC as a bored 3rd year student. Something about the show gripped me and 1 hour every Sunday was given up to watch it week in, week out.

It tells the story of Ryan Atwood, a 16 year old troubled, but very intelligent kid who grows up in the dumps of chino. After being arrested, his Lawyer, Sandy Cowen takes him into his own home in the OC - a rich person's paradise. This first season is easily the programme of its kind I've ever watched with its witty dialgoue, engrossing storyline and good acting.

The only thing I don't like about this first season is the constant 'its on' 'its off' between the 2 main young couples. Fair enough it would be boring if they just got together and stayed together but its like every episode everything is great and the next everything is ruined and the next its back to being great, it really does get a bit much after a while.

Other than this I would strongly recommend anyone to watch this - the first and last episodes are pure genius of story writing, camera work and acting - pure class.

Based around the lives of the very glamourous and rich residents of Orange County. The main familes being the Cohens and the Coopers. When Sandy Cohen asks troubled youth Ryan, a cilent in trouble, to come and stay with him it causes ripples over the whole or Orange county as they find out about Ryans background and how Ryan adapts to the lifestyle of the ric ...
