Unbelievably awful ! Do go if you like dirty smelly towels and sheets that are never washed, disgustingly dirty bathrooms, pools that are never cleaned or treated, poor management and harassment from locals to extent that you can't go onto the beach ! If you want a holiday ---try somewhere else--Flamingo Beach Hotel really is dreadful !! (read more)

Very good holiday at Flamingo Beach Hotel, Mombassa. Unfortunately African Safari are no longer using their own planes or ship which I am sure will affect the camaraderie of the holiday which is a shame however the gourmet pass works well and its an adventure going to other hotels to taste the meals. The traders on the beach are a bit of a nuisance but try and ignore them. They are not allowed in the hotel grounds. Very good value holiday. Hope its as good in March 2009. Will let you... My mother in-law and I had a wonderful time at the Flamingo Beach Hotel. We even tried to extend our holiday for another week, but they wont have it. We loved it.

Wildlife on safari was amazing and local people were wonderful! Can't fault the majority of the staff in the hotel, they just didn't have the tools to work with! Flight, paperwork (lack of) ASC not buying out flight upgrades from monarch despite us paying for them! Thought the hotel was shabby, mouldy, smelly, had poor hygiene in my view, holes in bedding, smelly towels, broken furniture.
Found the food limited, would see same food appearing for 3 or 4 meal times. Constantly running out of...

My partner and I booked this hotel last minute with African Safari club. We had the holiday of a lifetime!
The hotel was very beautiful and people who worked within the hotel were friendly and helpful. It is also very quiet at the moment. I believe that many people are afraid given the politics in December but we saw no sign of any trouble now. Please, please , please go to Kenya because the people within the tourist industry really need you!
The hotel is very nice all rooms have a...

We recently got married at Flamingo beach resort. We had wonderful day and stay at there lovely hotel. The manager of the hotel was brilliant. Checking that everybody was having a nice stay, sorting any problem (if any). The staff made our wedding day one to remember. We had the gourmet pass which was wonderful. All the restaurants were really nice. (read more)

Getting to Airport:- Onboard National Express destined for Gatwick. Stopped at Banbury for pick up. Unfortunately the coach broke down with aircon/heating fault. The new shift driver at Banbury reported the problem to his office. After one hour, another coach stopped at Banbury while on its way to Wolverhampton. The Wolverhampton service was terminated at Banbury, and that coach was re-scheduled to resume our journey to Heathrow and Gatwick. By this time some Heathrow passengers were late... (read more)

An excellent value for money holiday. This is the second time we have been and we loved it just as much this year as last. This year we took two friends and they fell in love with the hotel and staff also. We shall all go again next year!
One piece of advice was to take a bank of plugs so that you can charge cameras, phones, etc. There is only 1 plug in the average room and we needed more. Also take a torch, especially if you are going on safari. There are a la carte restaurants at both...

Came away from this holiday feeling like we had been short changed by the tour operator and any complaints were to no avail. The hotel was always a pleasant place to stay but the food was disgraceful and the nightlife non existent. One thing I do recommend is that if you get the chance to scuba dive, go for it. (read more)

We have just returned from a 3 week holiday in Kenya. We are writing to congratulate all the staff at the Flamingo Beach Hotel, from the manager down to the porters, gardeners and maintenance staff. They were excellent. Likewise, the staff at the Mara Buffalo Camp on our safari, especially our driver, who was a star in every way, and always found the game. Sign for all purchases, which are charged in Euros before then being changed into Kenyan shillings. Finally, billed to the credit card in... (read more)

We went to the Flamingo Beach Hotel for two weeks in October having booked direct with African Safari Club (ASC). This hotel is supposed to be the jewel in their crown and ASC are supposed to be experts in Safaris.
The rooms were damp and dirty, with mould in between the grouting in the bathroom. Our bed sheets had mould on them and my books went wobbly with damp! We have since written to ASC who said that this was caused by the humid conditions - we have been to Mexico in June which is...

Have just returned from a 3 week stay at the Flamingo Beach Hotel in November. Had a fantastic time. Staff couldn't have been more helpful, and it was our pleasure to tip them accordingly. We never felt we had too. Yes, vehicles are tired, but you saw the state of the roads they travel on. Our rooms were clean and adequate. The power went off three times whilst there, so toilets and showers, along with air conditioning didn't work, but hey, we were in Africa. They never claim to be a 5* hotel, but neither do you pay 5* prices. Perhaps if you visit Africa again you should travel with an operator like Kuoni and pay their prices.

We paid over £1700.00 each.

Just in reply to the peoples comments below. While we were there people were paying 1/2 the price we paid for our safari from the beach boys and stayed in lodges, which were the lap of luxury compared to what we endured. We have travelled extensively and have never paid £1700.00 each for 2 weeks holiday, to find ourselves staying in such squaller!

We have friends who paid less with Kuoni and stayed in a much better class of hotel with clean reliable transport.

African Safari Club paid us compensation, to me that says they know there is a problem!

Kenya is a lovely country, as are the people. It was a great opportunity to experience so much. The Flamingo Beach Hotel in Mombasa was clean. The food was varied, and there was a good variety to choose from. Very friendly and helpful people. Beautiful setting. Safari trucks do look old, but they are comfortable; not British standards, but they are Kenyan standards, and that is the country you are in. (read more)

The Flamingo Beach Hotel in Kenya is in a great setting, and the safari gave us an unforgettable look at the wild life.
The public areas, reception, bar, restaurant, and pool of the hotel are stylish and spacious. The rooms are plain but OK. The bathrooms are dated. The air con was noisy and not very effective. The washing water is very salty, and you just don't ever feel clean. 5 days suffering from food poisoning is unforgivable, and tipping (25 tips in 2 weeks) endemic. Safari vehicles...

Just returned from the Flamingo Hotel run by African Safari Club.We payed £700 each for 14 days, this included Flights, full board,2 day Safari to Tsavo East National Park with 1 night stay at their own Safari Lodge with views over the River from your own Bungalow,4 day cruise to Zanzibar on their own ship.
They do have a 23 kg bag limit on their economy seating but you are well informed of this when booking, and charge accordingly when you are over. However it is hardly surprising when you see...

How did you get all that for £700? I've just returned from a Dolphin hotel 9 day cruise, and we paid £1600 basic, with extras, including drinks and excursions, Visa charges and tips etc., and it added up to double that!
