Good Points: Great Series Exciting and keenly fought series, with new approach on the action which was televised.
Bad Points: Lack of original content.
General comments: The Ashes 2005 ranked amongst the greatest test series in history. Given past series, many predicted another easy victory for Australia, famously Glenn McGrath had predicted a 5-0 whitewash. Indeed it seemed he may have been correct after the first test in Lords, which Australia won comfortably enough. Yet what was to follow in the next 4 tests galvanized England and test cricket. In particular was the epic match at Edgbaston, where England won by a just 2 runs, one of the closest match in test history.
England then went on two win the 4th test, putting them 2-1 up before the Oval match, which was another enthralling match. 158 from Kevin Pietersen saved England from defeat and meant the Ashes were retained. For the first time in 18 years England had the Ashes urn and it sparked mesmeric celebrations across England famously cultivating in an open top bus parade through London.
The DVD of course can only relive the memories of the test series and attempt to capture those golden moments, if you are expecting something new and original it is highly likely you will be disappointed, but the average fan will realise the limitations. You are presented new views new opinions and a slightly different approach but essentially you still only get various brands of the same action you have seen before.
Overall this DVD attempts collate the great memories the Ashes 2005, it is a series which is described as the greatest Ashes series since 1981 and for many will be best they have the chance to see. Naturally people would like to have a reminder of such a great series, given England's recent Ashes tour (5-0 defeat in Australia) it will be a worthwhile reminder of how good the England team were one summer in 2005. On that note it is worth getting for sure.

Having watched The Ashes: England vs Australia 2005, I know that this DVD will be high on my Christmas list. To relive every wicket, Freddy's bravery, England's character, and Pieterson redeeming himself on the final day, will be a joy to behold. This DVD is simply a must for cricket fans everywhere. Unless, of course, you're an Aussie!!!
Hopefully there will be some good unseen footage of the celebration, most notably Flintoff's 24 hour bender after winning! But the main reason to watch this ...
