“SYM DD50 2006 scooter, it's worth it”

Written on: 18/03/2013

I bought a sym dd50 scooter model 2006 on January 2013, and so far I have no problem with the scooter, although it is a 7 years vehicle. The 2 stroke engine is power enough when compared to the other brand of 50cc scooters(especially the China scooter with 4 stroke engine). The tork & top speed is sufficient enough to make you move along with other vehicle in a safe conditions when you are in a highways (but you must make sure you are always on the right side though). It is my commuter to class… Read Full Review

I chose this scooter initially because I am short in stature & it is low to the floor so I felt more stable and the storage under the seat was adequate. However I would never buy a sym scooter again. It has been very unreliable. It has lost power on several occasions and fails to start on a regular basis… Read Full Review

“Hi all, ”

Written on: 05/11/2010

Hi all,

i`ve got my DD 50 2 month ago. Very low milage, about 600 miles/1000km. It was restricted, but a 0.85 mm main jet and the exhaust pipe sorting made it derestricted. There is a side pipe coming off the exhaust, that needs cutting off, and the hole welding up. It will improve your top speed and acceleration, by about 6-7 mph/9-11 kph. it will happily cruise at 35mph/56kph. I like the filler cap/seat release/lock combo, the wheels are a bit too small, so ride is a bit choppy, but ather… Read Full Review

Written on: 20/08/2009

The sym DD50 is the modern day version of the Honda Elite. Excellent build quality. Zips, Rexy and Jog bikes in general may be brute in demeanor but, they stand tall and are clumsy looking. The DD50 is the smooth and slick David, while the others are big for nothing Goliaths. Anyone can see that! Until the Elite returns, if ever..... The SYM DD50 is Ferrari amonst Hyundais! … Read Full Review

I did my first CBT on the Sym DD 50 and then really wanted to buy one but got given a sym jet euro x instead, (which is even better).
The only problem was that going round a roundabout I actually switched the engine off, but that is the only problem, good little bike… Read Full Review

Overall Great little runner, still running the machine in. Looking to get it de-restricted once I have done that and looking for a little more speed when needed. Can't really knock it that much great value for money… Read Full Review

The Sym DD50 50 is a fab small scooter, as I am short and chubby it suits me to perfection, tops 40 mph (downhill) averaging 30/35, excellent MPG, huge fun, comfy saddle and suspension, very well built (got knocked off in week one and minimal damage was done! All repaired now). Starts every time, great brakes great spec, even the speedo lights up, huge under-saddle storage box, great lights, once again great great fun to ride and saves a fortune on taking the car to work, and beats the traffic… Read Full Review

When I bought this bike it took a bit of getting used to, because I'm used to heavier bikes than this, but now I'm used to it I love it to pieces, it's a very quick little run around, it will do 60 miles at a time quite happily and it's probably the best handling bike I've ever ridden and it's easy to repair any faults… Read Full Review

Martin99's Response to 99woodhouseb's Review

Written on: 23/01/2006

I can't agree with this reviewer at all. I've owned a SYM DD50 for over 18 months and it's perfect. Hasn't coughed once and starts no bother every time. It's also very simple to operate and only does 30mph - so no chance of me getting done for speeding.

In my view for £999 OTR you'll struggle to do better than the SYM DD50.

Very odd review. Had my DD50 (Jolie in Australia) for 18 months and 30,000 kms. Absolutely zero problems. Highly recommend this scooter.
