    These Westwood T1800 mowers are only suitable for light domestic use.
    The hydrostatic drive system will fail after a few years use and replacement will be c. £800.

    Owned T1800 for 4 seasons from new. As in previously owned Countax, the hydrostatic transmission gearbox is beginning to fail, and is enormously expensive to replace - I was quoted £800, on a machine which cost £3,000 new. Beyond warranty period Westwood will not contribute - I suspect eventual gearbox failure is a common problem with these transmissions, so be warned before you buy one, not to expect miracles much beyond the warranty period.
    Symptoms to look out for are much reduced ...

    My Westwood T1800 lawn mower is a great machine would buy another used on 6 acres of land weekly for over a year now and never let me down.

    I have owned a westwood T1800 for six years I brought it second hand from a friend. With a little maintance it is running as good as new. I have three and half acres of park land which I have to keep cut.

    The Westwood T1800 lawn mower is a very good bit of kit. As domestic sit down lawn mowers go you don't get better. It's able to deal with virtually anything and the brush system for grass collection is much better than the alternatives. Be careful with the paintwork when washing it down as the paint to the rear deflector panel flaked off when I jet washed (fairly gently) the grass off. It's also a bit loud so mowing at 7am on a Sunday morning is not a good idea.
