Good Points: Comfortable butt.
Reasonable scope.
Easy to oil and clean.
Barrel easy to cock.
Well balanced in weight.
Reasonable power for a $75CDN rifle.
Automatic safety :)
Bad Points: Automatic safety :(
Bad aiming before zeroing in.
No alternative aiming mechanism other than the scope.
Small of butt too long for people with small hands.
Reasonable trigger.
All plastic.
Scope's screws wear out easily.
IMPOSSIBLE to find accessories for the unusually small dovetail mount.
Muzzle front sight useless.
General comments: The Marksman Model 1745SF was my first air rifle I bought. At first I though it wasn't an accurate rifle, but after I adjusted the scope it got better, way better After I had finished zeroing it in I finally got the best out of this rifle. When I first shot it I thought the butt was pretty comfortable. The scope has a reasonable distance for a rifle that costed $75CDN. Another good thing about this rifle is it was a break-barrel(although some people don't like this).
The positive side to this is the rifle is easy to clean and oil. The barrel was easy to cock and took almost no effort at all for me.
I'm pretty short and, that considered, the weight was pretty balanced and could have been held up for a while.
The automatic safety is kind of black and white. The good side is the safety is good for kids beginning to shoot (just a note for you parents out there!). The bad side is the safety if leaned on when it's OFF, the safety usually won't turn ON by itself again. Another thing to consider about the safety is, it is kind of bothersome if you are hunting and need to shoot 2 or more rounds it usually takes more time to turn the safety off.
A really big pet peeve I had with this rifle is that it didn't have an alernative aiming mechanism. The would really suck if you were in a tournament or playing a game with your buddies. In a tournament they probably wouldn't let you use a scope, and also it would really suck if the tournament was close range because the image would get blurry. The same thing would happen if you were playing a game with your buddies. My other pet peeve with this rifle is the long small of the butt.
I have small hands so it was hard to reach the trigger for me. So this rifle would be hard to use for people for small hands. The trigger had a smooth pull, but like I said the trigger was hard for me to reach so pulling the trigger was kind of hard(it'll probably get better when i grow a bit). Another thing I hated about this rifle is it is all plastic. The rifle felt very solid though. I'm trying to find accessories for this rifle so I take the scope off sometimes.
This leads to 2 problems of this rifle, #1 the screws on the scope wear out way too easily. Marksman should have used allen screws instead of the regular cheap ones. #2 Accessories are IMPOSSIBLE to find for this rifle's unusually small dovetail mount. I gave up trying a week ago. This is probably unimportant, but I thought I should mention it: The front sight on the muzzle is totally useless. Don't even try aiming with this piece of junk, Marksman shouldn't have even put this on the rifle(looks pretty nice and purposeful, though). I bought this rifle at Canadian Tire for $75CDN.
