“Quality made but not for serious shooters”

Written on: 26/01/2013

I bough this gun today just for fun. As the shop owner said this gun is only for fun but not for serious shooters. Gun is well made and feels like a real gun. The only problem with this CP99 is inaccurate. From 5 meters away I tried very hard to shoot bull's eye but no luck. (read more)

Well I have to say, and please I'm not trying to criticize or insult you, that it's quite possible either it's your specific gun or your aim is off. I have had mine for a couple of weeks now (shooting daily putting about 2000 rounds through it), Walther CP99 Compact w/laser, and it is dead on with both the fixed iron sights and the laser @ 30'. I am a pretty good shot with all of my guns and I am so impressed with every feature of this gun. If I wasn't the one loading it I wouldn't even know it wasn't a pellet shooter it's just that accurate. Maybe you should try to exchange it for another. I had this same issue with a Beretta Px4 Storm, returned it and purchased one from another store and it is deadly accurate with pellets. I never shoot bbs through a rifled barrel so I can't comment on that. But the issue is accuracy and I urge you to exchange for another. Good luck and happy shooting!!

“Second hand bargain”

Written on: 09/01/2013

Bought mine second hand and it had been well used before I bought it. Regardless it works a treat, shoots straight and I love it. The co2 cover is a tad loose with use and age but other than the usual wear marks to the finish from holstering it has stood the test of time well. Mine is the early model without the machined away ejector cut out. I put several magazines through it with out a single malfunction. I havnt managed to check co2 useage yet but was so pleased I just felt the need to... (read more)

“Love it, but innacurate and leaks”

Written on: 16/08/2012 by AbortRetryFail (1 review written)

I should start off by being positive, and say I love the look and feel of this gun and I love it. However, my first one started venting CO2 despite trying everything, and it was exchanged for another one. This has also developed the same fault - it vents / leaks CO2 when you put a new cartridge in. I fear it will have to go back for a full refund as I'm not sure I want to try a 3rd one. But maybe I will relent. It is also rather inaccurate, although great fun as a plinker with realistic... (read more)

This is one of my favorite air pistols. The gun is constructed of high quality materials, and the kick from the blow back
really feels like you fired a real firearm. I usually can get about 80 shots out of a CO2 Cartridge.

Here's a link to a review of the Walther CP99 Compact that has done some performance test on it.

“I'm not really convinced by this Walther CP99 Pistol. ”

Written on: 27/07/2009 by bobjbrown (34 reviews written)

I'm not really convinced by this Walther CP99 Pistol.

I think that it suffers by being to compact, inaccurate and thirsty on gas.
May be OK at timed metal plate targets, but certainly not to hot for pukkah target shooting.

However, I may have got it wrong. I bought this pistol to have fun, and that is what it is good at, plinking cans, bottles, card targets and so on.

It is not a competition pistol, its not a patch on my CP88 for instance. But it is fun, the CO2 blowback gives a semi real... (read more)

Wow! From what I read from other reviews I must have got a real lemon - actually two of them. The problem: I could not get the CO2 to stop leaking from the Walther CP99 Compact gun. Sent the first one back, but the second gun had the same problem. I tried everything I could think of to get the CO2 canister tightened, but no luck. I went through many CO2 canisters and finally gave it up - it was just wasting a lot of CO2 and money and I said the hell with it.

The Walther CP99 Compact is a nice compact size for packing around. Blow-back makes for a light trigger pull which is the main advantage of blow-back. You can empty the large clip effortlessly and quickly, the gas does the cocking instead of having a long hard pull on the trigger like most others. And it doesn't seem to use any more gas than others do without blow-back. Anyway, I would never go back to the other kind after using this one. Has a nice clip system that is easy to load and... I am extremely impressed with the CP99 Compact. I had my eye on several guns to mess about with but ultimately settled on the Compact for it's price and good reviews. Firstly the gun just looks and feels right. I've handled probably two dozen pistols in my life and the P99/CP99 feels so comfortable that it shames other designs ergonomically. The gun feels every bit real, though a bit lighter, than the real P99. The blowback action along with an authoritative report (loud but definitely not... (read more)

All in all like this gun a lot but for precision shooting would need something else. Personnaly i like the feel of the gun, the blow back effect and on mine i have a lazer pointer i find helps a lot for target shooting. At 10 meters i find it to be fairly accurate. Dont like the feel of the trigger, i think that it feels cheap, and sometimes gets off a blank shot nothing comes out. (read more)

I've had the Walther CP99 Compact for about 3 months now, and I'd have to say its got to be my favorite air pistol.
It is an exellent trainer pistol and is perfect for 5-20 meter target shooting. some say it can be inaccurate, but in the hands of someone who is used to the recoil of a 9mm, it can be a very trusty target Pistol. where I live, In Western Canada, the CP99 is very hard to come by. I got my CP99 compact from D&L airguns here in Canada. It arrived quickly, and I couldn't wait to try it out. Well, I've had it for a week and put about 1000 shots through it and thought I'd give my two cents on it. First off, there was nothing around like this when I was growing up in the mid eighties when I was 10. Canadian Tire had a few guns, but nothing of this quality. Really fun plinker.
Feels so good in your hand that you`ll never let go.
Got only 210fps on the chrony with the first powerlet with both steel/led but it may just have to get worn in.
I`ll test it again later after a few 100 shots.
The trigger is kind of curved too small and low so the trigger finger may rub against the trigger guard when fired.
It shoots too low on all distances and the sights are not adjustable.
Still the gun is so much fun to shoot with that i`ll buy the laser kit to see... (read more)

I bought this gun about four months ago, this is the first one i ever bought, so when i got the the shop i thought it looked like a good choice, i was told it was too. after a month or two of gaming i started to realise people around me had silencers, laser sights, any other mod around, so i checked to see if this could use any, to my disappointment it couldn't, so if you are looking for any additional fixtures don't buy this gun, aside from that.

I have had this gun for about 2 weeks now and it works pretty good. The only problem I'm having with it is that when the CO2 is low i have to slide the thing back for every shot i take (i never saw anything problem like this on any other reviews so it may just be my gun). I wrote a review of this gun 3 days after I bought it. Now that I have had it a month, and have fired 2,628 rounds through it, I figured it was time to give it a more thorough evaluation.

The gun came with a 1 year parts & labor guarantee, which if it lasts 1/3 this long, I figure it will be well worth the money given the entertainment value. I loved this gun from the day that i bought it. I had such a blast shooting it. They could of spent a little bit more time and money on the barrel and the power of the BB's but this gun is still powerful. I'm guessing that there is a lot of the power from the co2 lost because of the blowback but its well worth it. I have only had this gun 3 days. Nice sound when fired, and great kick. Averaged 118 to 162 shots per powerlet at room temperature, way more then I expected, especially with a nice blow back system. The trigger pull is long, but you can tell when it's about to fire. With the pistol on a rest I could only achieve 1 1/2 - 2 inch groups at 20 feet. Written on: 24/02/2007 by bishreyn (2 reviews written)

The Walther CP99 Compact CO2 pistol is a medium price, medium quality air gun whose main attraction is the blowback action, which makes it fun to shoot. Having said that, it's not a true semi-auto. The hammer is cocked by the slide as it is blown backwards, but the BB's are pushed into position manually by the action of pulling the trigger. This is why the trigger travel is long, and why you have to release the trigger almost completely between shots. Anyone who has fired a real pistol or a... (read more)

Despite my many bad points, the good points far outweigh them. Well, let's start out with the good, shall we? By far the best part of the gun, and probably the reason why you're reading this review right now, is the blowback feature on the gun. Upon receiving it, the CP99 Compact, I was impressed with the look and feel of the gun.

Instead of the standard piercing screw, the bottom of the grip (what appears to be the base of a magazine) is threaded and used to force the co2 into the piercing stem.
