Bad Points: Everything
General comments: My girlfriend decided to do an ICS course for a Nail Technician as she was wanting to get a job in a nail bar. She went to the ICS website and looked at the course and saw that it said it could give her the qualification that would enable her to get a job as a Nail Technician. She looked at the ICS website and found that the course was currently 50% off. The price was now £269.50 down from £539. The website stated that you can pay in easy monthly installments so my girlfriend decided to pay this way. She was surprised to find that the price had reverted back to £539. She was told that this was because you must pay the full amount instead of paying by installments. This was not stated on their website. So she then had to agree to pay £269.50 outright to get the offer price. When her course arrived she was disappointed to find that it looked as though it had been word for word copied from the textbook that they also sent her. The materials they sent her to practice on seemed of a very poor quality and nothing like what a Nail Technician would use. When she graduated she took her diploma to our local nail bar and was told by the owner that this diploma was not sufficient on its own for her to be given a job. She then e-mailed ICS with what the Nail Bar owner said and their reply stated that the course was NOT ACCREDITED. But she was certain that the website and course guide leaflet tell you when you graduate you will receive an accredited qualification.

I enjoyed my ICS course and it helped me pass my CIM exam. You need to contact your tutor, they dont contact you. This was fine for me as I was also busy at work and didn't need the hassle of someone checking up on me. It meant I could work at my own speed. When I contacted a tutor they always gave me good help and support and put me on the right track. I would recommend ICS.

I completed the diesel mechanics course in 3 easy months, they said they provide tools for hands on experience and after enrolling they changed the course content. So read the fine print, it stated they have the write to change course content and materials supplied, in my opinion in the end you don't get what you pay for ...

ICS really are woeful. I signed up for the A level history and for my money I got a load of mistake ridden notes (dates frequently wrong) that were badly written and often missed out or skimmed over crucial areas. Furthermore, there was very limited advice on how to construct essays, tackle exams etc. It was laughably basic for the £200+ I signed up for. Furthermore, you have to find an exam centre to register with. This sounds easier than it is. Very few exam centres (such as schools and ...

I had had a very positive experience of distance learning with the Open University and did well with it, so I was pleased to enrol on a particular course with ICS that interested me.
When the course materials arrived I was astonished that it was a lot of looseleaf photocopies in black and white. Whilst factually accurate, it was not laid out in a helpful manner and was very tedious to study from - bearing in mind the topic was one that greatly interested me!
I had to spend a lot of money on oth ...

To say my experience with ICS wasn't creamier than Ambrosia creamed rice in a blender. I spoke to a dreamy young man with a Scottish brogue so sultry I damn near my broke my cheekbones with my smile. He took me through the course with quiet assuredness of David Hasselhoff plucking a young Californian from the Pacific Ocean. Then he withdrew the money from my card. I recieved my course from a happy courier man dressed in a resplendent Green. His van was very clean.
Once I recieved the course I o ...

ICs very good at publicity. Bad at delivering. Modules are 9 months late, exams are booked over bank holidays. I had one over the Easter weekend, and they weren't prepared to change the dates. The degree cost nearly £8K, and it really has been a waste. I'm having to transfer to uni in September to finish.
Please do your research before joining ICS.

Please don''t sign up to ICS, if you decide to cancel within the 7 days they still try to keep your money they send you any email that in 7 days you will receive a letter telling you the outcome, what out come I cancelled within the 7 days, the money should be refunded. The course material is bad and the tutors are unhelpful. please don't sign up to ICS.

It all started when I tried to complete an Electricians course. The package arrived after a few days. Impressive I thought at first, but then I looked for the question section, and there were sections missing!? I phoned the call centre and they informed me it would be on its way; bearing in mind you get a seven day cooling off period if you want to cancel. By the time the other sections arrived some two weeks later it was to late to cancel. The information given was no use at all. I have a basic ...

ICS offered no communication, cancellation of workshops, not enough space on workshops, continually after money and payments, tutor never available, tutors give useless comments on assessed work, unhelpful staff, poor course notes, pathetic 7 day cancellation policy, no sympathy to customer etc.

I don't feel that I learned anything during the course. The feedback I got from my so-called tutor (who changed with almost every assignment) was minimal. Whenever I called to speak to my tutor I was put through to a call centre, and the people there didn't know anything about my subject. It was so bad, I dare not even enter for the exam when the time came. I've enrolled with a different college (the National Extension College) that is absolutely great. They couldn't be more different. In the me ...

If you really know your subject and just need a piece of paper to confirm your knowledge, ICS Home Study courses are OK. If you want to learn something new and feel you'll need some kind of support during the course, don't bother.

I have now completed several ICS home study Diplomas, and they have been great. As you progress through your course, they then send you your further study material, and if you need to attend an examination, they arrange all this for you.
Very pleasant to talk to, and easy to deal with if you need to ask your tutor a question, or if you have a problem.
When you have completed your paper, you just pop it in the post and then they return it to you the following week marked, and with any comm ...
