Staff had attitude and we were not made to feel welcome. One waitress in particular (Louise?) was downright rude. Their food today was mediocre, and it must be said prices are above average for the area. I was very disappointed, we ued to eat here regularly but since the change of ownership in 2009 this pub has gone down hill markedly. (read more)

Disappointing. We (5 of us )had expected so much because the review in the local paper boasted 'Executive chef', head chef, good food etc, etc. It was average but tasty. The girl behind the bar was not very welcoming - not very smiley. She attempted to clear one person's plate away when we had not all finished eating - a no no in our book - but must have taken exception to this when we asked her to return when we had all finished eating. When given my card receipt it was thrust into my hand... Just been today & had the carvery. Very nice meat, choice of Turkey or Beef. We went large but only had 3 slices of Turkey which were not very big although tasty. Very disappointed with the rest of it. Carrots, swede & Brocolli only choice of veg & the brocolli was that under cooked & cold it almost tasted raw! Had a lot more variety to choose from at other carverys. Soggy roast potatoes & parsnips too. Nice Yorkshire pudding & Stuffing balls & boiled potatoes. Definitely wont be going back... (read more)

If you want a good meal and you are down that way, perhaps if you are staying at Hendra holiday park which is within easy walking distance, pop into The Kings Head. We frequently camp down there for weekends and longer holidays, and we always visit this pub. I have never had a bad meal there yet, the food is great, not just the carvery, but the rest of the menu aswell. Best of all, the side salad is always crispy and has interesting veg in it like peppers and red onions and different... (read more)
