yeah city link, had three non-deliveries out of three, latest order from Amazon, guaranteed next day delivery never showed but according to City Link attempted delivery at 10.05 a.m., pulling my plonker (was in waiting for the item) no card no proof, got refund of postage from Amazon, haven't a clue where the thing I ordered is now, told Amazon I will not be ordering anything from them again if they persist in using this useless company, just not worth the hassle.

Why do companies use City Link so often? I can't believe the consistently poor service they offer. As the end customer you seem to end up wasting your time waiting in for them, they then claim to have attempted and delivery and left a card, yet no such thing has happened.

I thought it was just me but after reading other reviews it appears to be common place.

The fun really starts when you try to call the customer services department.... if you can get through in the first place that is! ...

A waste of time city link customer service staff sided with the driver when no card was left X2. Seem to want me to collect from depot miles away. Must have a huge carbon footprint. Disturbed to hear that this firm ties customers into a contract I call that a monopoly something royal mail no longer has.

I'm in full agreement with the other commentators on the shortcomings of CityLink. I've twice had cards left by the delivery person where the package number was illegible or just not filled in, so that you can't even call to arrange another delivery (as the automated phone service to do this requires the number.)

As an Edinburgh resident, their relocation of the depot to Livingston, and particularly to a place unreachable by public transport, renders this 'delivery service' useless. If I'd want ...

    Absolute useless this service!
Driver was (apparently) twice at my house, no card posted that he missed me. Found out by chance since I called the seller to enquire where the item was. He informed me its on the way back to him....I just managed after phoning 3 times Citylink Glenrothes, that the parcel will be posted back tonight to seller and I have to collect it in person before 7 p.m. That's an 40 min drive...two ways...
I cannot recommend this service at all! I will not order anything from a ...

I missed the delivery (I have to work for a living during the day),sorting office miles away and difficult to find, was kept waiting to be let in, abrupt staff. Anything too big to fit through letter box or requiring a signature I will buy from a shop in future, just in case the sender uses these clowns.

Hi all for the record i work for city link and have been in the delivery business for quite a few years.
As with all courier companies you have good and bad experiences, to lessen the bad ones can i make a couple of points, The driver has 60 deliveries a day then as many collections, so u can see time is everything, To make life easier Give the courier a mobile and home phone number, Got a good neighbour they can give it to, A good place to put the parcel round the back etc.
    Invariably things ...

I' ve had exactly the same experience as the other Amazon customers on this thread. I ordered something from Amazon on 15th Oct. They dispatched it via Citilink the same day. It's now 31st October. Have I received my order? No. Why? Because Citilink claim they tried to deliver it but I wasn't in. Was I aware of any of this? No, because they didn't even bother to leave a card to allow me to arrange the delivery. How did I find out that I'd missed them? When I received a 'We have process ...

NO STARS. Total failure to collect parcel over two days -( Coventry depot. ) First excuse was that they "forgot". Arranged 9am to 12pm collection today - they have not showed up. City Link is no better at collection than delivery.

Ordered something from amazon and paid a extra delivery charge for a saturday. i worked a night shift and stayed up when i got in to wait for the parcel and apparently no one answered the door to the idiot delivering! even though no one knocked on the door. according to the card he tried to deliver at 08:15 but it says on tracking that he scanned it as undeliverable at 07:50. Also he didnt really help matters as the card was not even posted through the letterbox but on the path outside my house ...

im posting this on every thread i can find with Amazon and Citylink as a search term.(not hijacking as it is on topic) because hopefully amazon will be collating comments and see some sense.

Last 2 years i have used amazon i have found them fantastic delivering through royal mail, strikes and all!
last fortnight they have started using citylink and i have had to cancel not one but two orders, something i never did with RM.

I work nights every other week so im always home for daytime deliveries ...

Unfortunately courier companies like citylink, dhl, tnt etc are always going to be slated by unsatisfied customers. As a courier myself the job isnt as easy as people think, we have to contend with verbal abuse from customers who think we drive large vans with just their deliveries on, customers who think they are better than us. Incorrect addresses are a big issue, no house numbers! no street names! No delivery company can garantee a delivery time am or pm is the best we can do! As for false ca ...

I'm only giving one star, as it seems one cannot give none. I have never received a delivery from City Link 1st time round, they seem incapable of ringing the door bell. The only way to get one's parcel successfully, seems to be to leave their 'Whilst you were out' card stuck above the doorbell with a reminder to ring said doorbell! I am so frustrated that I've asked Amazon to cancel any order, if they instruct Citylink to deliver. Royal Mail is pretty grim, but it's 5 star compared to this lo ...

Paid extra for a Saturday delivery. Stayed in all day, no sign of package. The package has now been delivered but I'm now at work so nobody is in to collect it.

So not only have I paid more for a service to suit my needs, I am now going to have to go out of my way (half an hour drive) to the collection depot. The only other option is to take a day off work and schedule another delivery. Useless.

They have never, in my experience, delivered anything on time. They are impossible to get hold of and after 3 days of waiting in all day for delivery I am incredibly frustrated. The drivers report that they have attempted delivery when they haven't and can't seem to follow simple instructions to phone when they are outside the house.
    Would never use again.

The problem is you can't tell who is delivering your products (or how much it is) until the end of most transactions. I fear there are no reliable services. What happens is that is that none actually 'knock' or 'ring' they just leave a card and drive off - maybe because they are incentived wrongly. In my exerience City Link are amongst the worst offenders if I found out that a product was 50% cheaper and the delivery was with City Link I would avoid it like the plague, you wait in, nothing happe ...
