“Works like a charm after migration to new platform”

After migration to new platform my website starts using IPv6, HTTPS with Let's Encrypt certificate and the diskspace is unlimited. New email has responsive webmail and works like a charm also on my mobile and tablet including contacts, calendar etc.

“Sadly, there is no reason to continue to use them”

Active 24's Webmail after the now not so recent migration to their new servers will be a lesson on how to loose your clients. Their mediocre formatting facility and lacklustre design of the pages was acceptable to me as a back-up mail service but their product has worsened by inexplicable multiple resends of mail and too many logon failures. Their customer service response is quick, however, albeit after having to use a full cost landline number (I gave up initiating complaints from the website) but I'm having to use it too often. It’s a lot of hassle to move e-mail providers so I’ll give them another month to sort out their problems and in the meantime I’ll look for someone with better editing facilities, a more pleasing layout and who has a record of providing a reliable service.

“Hopeless”

Have been a customer since the old days of "Vi". They've just migrated my domain and mailboxes to Czech parent company. All email clients now broken. Go to the 'customer support' site and, once you've switched it to English, there's about 5 different sets of instructions for various servers with various ports and security settings. None of them are exchange servers, the splash screen of the new webmail tells you to use the old exchange server that doesn't work, in fact nothing works. Its a complete mess. I'm leaving.

“Email Stops Working”

My incoming email hangs repeatedly several time a day. The issue is mainly associated with incoming mail (Pop3) on the popmail.active24.com server but the alternative server mamutmail.com is just as bad. I'm using Outlook and when I get an error message pop up, it stops checking my email until manually clear the warning. It's very ittitating. I have repeatedly contacted their support over several months and the issue has never been resolved.

“Loss of email facility ”

my email service is disconnect for periods up to 8hrs without any explanation been given. Complaints do not get addressed. Very poor service. Not a company to use email hosting if you have a business.

Active 24 provide the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Their website promises 24/7 support. I'm not sure if they know what it means because they don't work evenings or weekends and even finish early on a Friday! As the other reviewer said, they are diabolical. No-one gets back to you, they don't care if your website is down and they fob you off with lies rather than sorting out your problem. They have now removed the www. from our URL, so links (including google) don't work which has reduced our traffic by 88% - but after 6 days there is still very little response (except for the lies and excuses). If there is any other company you can use, I would do it. I simply cannot see how any other company would be worse than Active 24.

“Diabolical - 0 Stars”

The title is the 'nicest' , and the 'mildest' way to describe Active 24's services and customer services. For unknown reasons they have taken our company website offline, 4 days on, still no service up to this current day. Sent them numerous emails, no response, used their so called 'call back' service a few times, again, nothing. Called them AGAIN this morning and left the phone on loudspeaker hold for NINETY FIVE minutes, then they cut me off! I wonder if they are even still in business??? Active 24 are a complete waste of money, time and effort. We are now moving our website over to BT Web Hosting who are REAL PROFESSIONALS.

“Don't use their service!”

I terminated my account / contract by email months ago. They keep sending me invoices and refuse to respond to my messages regarding the terminated contract. It's like they can't read. This is the Dutch web site by te way. If they don't respond this week i will have to consult with my lawyer. This is unbelievable. Don't work with them.....

“APPALLING APPALLING Service”

I've been with A24/Mamut since the days of VI in 2005. I had 20 domains hosted with them on a shared package. I recently bought a vps with another provider so I could host the sites myself. I left the domains registered with A24 and got them to change the namesservers over to mine. Without warning they changed the nameservers on one of my domains back to theirs and put a redemptionPeriod lock on it. I called them and asked why and they said that "because you hadn't transerferred the domain away from A24 at the end of the agreement we've put the lock on and it's going to cost you £100 for us to remove it". Now, forgive me for being picky here, I've been with this firm for nearly 8 years and never missed a payment and wanted to use them to continue to be the registrar of my domains (and pay the associated cost) and they do this. This is just the latest in a VERY LONG LINE of VERY POOR SERVICE. Other examples are: - They NEVER answer support emails. If you manage to get through to their support department on the phone, you end up talking to office labrador. Getting tech problems solved takes sometimes months and are sometimes never solved, you just have to work around them (ssl for one). Their tech support and customer service "consultants" are rude and poorly trained. Try their "we'll call you back" feature when you are stuck in their call centre queue (it's really funny when it repeats (wrongly) your entered number) In a nutshell ********* AVOID THIS COMPANY FOR YOUR HOSTING SERVICES - YOU WILL REGRET IT IF YOU DON'T ***********

“Poor Customer Service, Poor Performance”

Base on my personal experience for now i don't like active24 now, the phone and email support doesn't work they don't answer, its really hard to contact them as of now that I'm needing the authentication code for me to be able to transfer to a new hosting company. Thought we been with them for a quite long time but the problem we are experiencing right now took almost a month and seems to me that they haven't solved it yet. I don't know what they are doing right now but all my direction tells me that i should move out from them. We have 2 account on them and planning to add but after what we experience recently i don't recommend hosting in them. Such a waste of time an money. Richard

“i am with them since 2005 ”

i am with them since 2005
they do not send me the renewal of domains
I receive the invoice by post, I'll pay by credit card
and they delete the domains
they almost never respond to my email
and make me pay about 160 ' for the reactivation of each domain
this problem happens for two years in a row in 2010 and now in 2011
and now are three days that I write to them but no one answers me
my domains still in redemptionperiod the damage is priceless
I do not recommend anyone to work with this company

This true, what a weird company that specialise in hosting websites/emails, account software etc but will only send you your invoice by post, not even a reminder by email. So much for getting you online!

Very similar experience to Joe M W. I am now moving half a dozen sites away from Active 24 for the following reasons:
- Their billing dept is chaotic - my sites have been disabled more than once without any notice for "non payment" even when my balance with Active24 has been in credit (and this from a company that sells accounts software).
- Support is only office hrs 5 days a week yet they charge more than sites who offer support 24/7.
- They are inflexible and their own control panel is hardly fit for purpose, no way of knowing if they have received a payment until your site is cut off - frequent errors and a dowload section that has been "coming soon" for about 2 years now.
I stayed with Active24 for 8 years, they were a good small company at the beginning and I put up with them because some of the tech support guys were helpful and I didn't want the hassle of shifting all my products, however the admin/accounts service deteriorated when they became part of the Mamut group and has continued to deteriorate ever since.
There is cheaper and better out there - take it.

“I have had web sites with Active 24 for over 10 years....”

I have had web sites with Active 24 for over 10 years. I stayed with them because they were relatively easy to set up. I have now removed a total of 7 web sites from them due to the exactly the same issues as described on this review board.

The lack of attention to detail, servers that crash and are only partially reinstalled and technical support who are utterly incompetent and incapable.

I have left one web site with them simply so that I can make a formal complaint to the directors of the company (details available through Companies House.)

If you value your work and don't want to be left frustrated beyond belief keep well away> No barge pole is long enough!!

Apart from being simply technically unable to solve simple problems such as re-installing Front Page Extensions, these people do not care.

Until I came to this review centre - I thought that they were "having a laugh" at my expense - or "punishing" me for sending them emails (politely but firmly) expressing my annoyance and frustration. Having read this board I am comforted by the fact that they are as bad or worse with everyone.

They really are that bad and I cannot understand how they are still in business - it can't be for long!!

I can't think of any good points to write about Active24 ... their support is slow and unhelpful, their reliability is sub-par, they're expensive and difficult to move away from and they don't notify you of upcoming important events relating to your domains or hosting. Their control panel is void of any useful features and is illegible. You can't even see the full domain name in their framed list of domains if it's above 12 characters long. Massively unhelpful if you have .coms and .co.uks of the same name... Avoid these like the plague, I'm currently trying to transfer all services away from them.

Excellent uptime, usually runs fast, reliable POP3/SMTP email, reasonable charges, my year 2 invoice was for less than the year 1 cost. I've hosted my site with active24 for nearly a year now and have been very pleased with them. The one time I had to ring technical support (on a low cost geographical number) a techie gave me accurate info at once. Incoming email comes direct from their POP3 server to Outlook 2003 and outgoing goes via my ISP, Madasafish. No problems so they must have sorted out earlier issues. I've also got 3 clients I've written websites for signed up with active24 and they've been happy too. I like the fact they don't give referral fees.

“My website was hacked twice in one week, I feel this...”

My website was hacked twice in one week, I feel this is due to the Active24 servers not having all the required security patches. The support team then tried to blame my website, even though mulitiple domains were affected and I proved it was nothing to do with my website I feel.
Unhelpful support in my experience and they have still not yet replied to my emails as far as I am aware, try to place the blame for my problem on me when I feel it is not because of me. Unsecure servers in my opinion therefore I do not recommend Active 24.co.uk
