Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG Zoom. Oveall a good walkabout lens. Fairly fast focussing. Crisp focussing especially f8 and upwards.
A tad heavy but not unreasonably so. Filters can be a problem - the threads bind. Not sure if it;s the filter or the lens but the same filters are OL on other lenses.
The tulip hood that come with the lens soon wears to the point where the hood keeps faling off/

IMHO, this lens reveals it's real potential at full-frame sensor camera, but if u can afford the latter - u probably can afford for example Canon 24-70 L. But it's a good start, and it's perfect for my beauty/flamour studio shots at cropped sensor.
BUY IT! =)

I loved the Sigma 24-70mm lens so much that I bought a second one (I had to sell the first one for financial reasons). If you can't afford a Canon L lens, you won't go wrong with a Sigma.

It performs very well on my Nikon D200 but I think the focal lenght is more suitable for full size sensors like Nikon D3. The biggest problem is weight and filter size. Do not worry about other things. When you see the price you can understand that this is a quite good performer near Canon 24-70L and Nikon 24-70N

This Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG 35mm Zoom Lens is an ideal lens very sharp and a good range 24-70 on my nikon F80 slr 36-105 on my Nikon d100, the colours are brilliant its also good to handle and very fast i have had some very good shots with it on both my cameras. And it doesn't make to much of a dint in your pocket money wise.
very highly recomended

The Sigma 24-70 @f2.8 is not inexpensive but it is near perfect in many ways. The 24-70mm is a very good focal range. Used with my Fuji S2Pro it is the 35mm Equivalent to 36mm to 105mm. The constant f2.8 is great in low light situations where I need it for focusing, DOF or just to keep from zooming and underexposing my image. The motor is not completely quite but it is fast and accurate. I think it may be a mix of alloy and plastic. It surely does not feel like the cheaper all plastic lenses I have used before. It is a heavy lens but very well made and does a great job for me. This lens is often the only lens I use and is mounted on my camera most of the time.

This Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG Zoom Lens is ideal as a staple lens for a digital SLR. Images are sharp and clear with vivid colour and sharp contrast.
Lens is built like a tank and has a very nice DX finish (A little like nikkor lens) Have taken some lovely images with this lens on Canon EOS 10D. My only (Minor.) gripe would be that the focus motor is loud and this makes it unsuitable for candid/reportage photography.
