True. The same happent to me early on... I decided to take it to repair in the warenty period but after a few few months it started againd and even worse. I quicly realise it was a wrotten "horse"... Still have it, almost never let's me use it. I give it a litle spanky, it does not reply... It always demands a litke "hart" surgery :( It's an EXAUSTING and mind blowing stressing LG DVD... because of it's constant flaws and the obvious uninterest of makint it last... My decision on buying LG... (read more)

Owned my LG RH7500 for 4 years now. Only problem has been a problem with pre-recorded DVDs not being recognised and blank media unable to be formatted. Searched online for 2 minutes for the solution, and the problem has now gone. Get inside the box, take off the two screws on the DVD drive cover and (delicately) remove dust from the lens and surroundings. You should use delicate brushes and air blast, but I got some soft tissue and gently wiped. Worked first time after the 5 minute "repair". (read more)

Impressive quality on both picture and sound on this unit.
Easy to use, compared to some other brands I have seen.
This unit has been very useful while copying most of my important vcr-tapes to dvd. Great machine.

I've had the LG RH7500 recorder for over a year now, and though initially it worked magnificently, beautiful pictures and sound quality, pretty soon stopped recognizing branded blank and recorded dvds, later even the prerecorded discs. So now I've to find out, if possible, how to transfer videos from the hard drive to my pc or camcorder.
Shame that this fault will brings down quite drastically, my rating of this otherwise good value machine.

I love my LG RH7500 DVD/HDD recorder! It is easy to use and gives a crystal clear quality. But, timer function doesn't always work handy

The LG RH7500 doesn't work well for very long. My own and my brothers dvd recorder both developed the same problem. The recorder stooped recognising disc ( even pre recorded disc ) .Got fixed by Lg but developed same fault again. this time it didn't recognise blank disc. I was told only use recommended disc and come back to Lg if the problem persist when using recommended disc. Trouble is finding disc that Lg recommend is impossible. When i finally realised this the recorder had again... (read more)

I think the LG RH7500 is good value for the money, or was when I purchased it a year and a half ago. Good looking design, fine menus, plenty of holes to fill in the back. (read more)

I assumed that this unit would automatically record from Sky like my 3 year old Phillips DVD recorder but it does not. I also thought that Hard Disk recorders enabled you to watch the start of a recording whilst continuing to record the rest of the programme - this is not the case with the LG. Unless you want to record from the analogue tuner, this unit is not much use for recording from Sky as you cannot watch anything else during that time, unless you have free-view - in which case you... I must be the odd one out, but I have had enough problems with the LG RH6500 DVD recorder to have lost faith in it.
Burn to DVD failure rate is about 33% across most manufacturers blank discs. Can be a bit noisy. Can't get a hold of their support people.

The LG RH7500 DVD recorder is brilliant! You can record programmes to the hard disk, then if needed, transfer them quickly to DVD at the quality you recorded them at. At most, it takes 10 minutes, and you can watch other channels while you do so.
It took some time to get used to being able to pause a program. We only click Timeshift, as it only takes a few seconds.
This is a great machine. I hope this helps any prospective buyers.

I have been having huge problems with my Sky+ unit and went online to see if I was alone in my frustration; it would seem I am not. Sky are having huge problems (although they will not admit it) it their (but not limited to) Amstrad Sky+ boxes (loosing audio sync every few seconds) don't take my word for it, google for Sky+ Amstrad. The box is still under warranty but to be honest, looking at other people experiences with the sky "engineers" (box swappers) it seems I would just get another... (read more)

I find the LG RH7500 DVD Recorder to be excellent. I had no trouble with it at all! I find it easy to use. The specs are very good, and that's why I give it 10 out of 10. (read more)

The LG RH7500 DVD recorder is my first venture into this area (although I have used a DVD burner on the PC a bit).
In my first week I have transferred 5 video's onto 8 DVD's, and I am amazed that I haven't trashed a single DVD yet. I am accustomed to ruining writable CD's on my PC so I expected the same here. Pressing the wrong buttons at the wrong time still hasn't resulted in any coffee mats!!
This machine seems extremely resilient. Copying from HD to DVD and vice-versa, and HDD editing...

LG is not a brand I would normally buy. The problems I have had so far with the LG RH7500 DVD recorder does not give me much confidence. The support at the LG end was excellent. They say they have a 1% fail rate. I must have that 1%. (read more)

The LG RH7500 is packed with features and great value for money. It can use all the DVD formats for reading and writing with the exception of DVD-RAM and has a 80Gb HDD which is ample for recording and storing live TV. No more searching for space and VHS tape. I found the timeshift facility particulary useful. You can start watching a program, go to timeshift and return to watch the program while the recorder is still buffering the live broadcast. The editing of saved content on the HDD... (read more)

According to LG you cannot record to harddisk whilst watching a program already recorded on the harddisk. You can only record on say dvd whilst watching a program on the harddisk and vice versa. This is definitely wrong. Unless off course you have a different firmware version to me but that is most unlikely.

Possibly you're a bit suspicious of the LG name? This isn't a cheap player, and at this price level LG are competing with brand name Japanese devices. However, if you're in the market for a good quality combined DVD recorder and hard disk machine, then be assured that this works very well indeed.
I bought this on the strength of experience of a basic LG DVD player that I have regular access to, that oozes quality, despite its budget price tag, and because of disenchantment with the three...

LG is a name that's been going quite a while but they've been more of a components company than your average Sony, Panasonic etc.... and looked on a 2nd rate, but LG make some stunning gear...
<br>I've purchased the LG 7500 and I'm very pleased with sound and picture quality, never had any problem recording on cheap DVD's, unlike the Toshiba DR3, which kept spitting out DVD's. Not use the duel layer record feature yet, but not many machines have this facility...
<br>it's so good at the price I'm buying a 2nd one....
<br>One downside is their tech. helpline, when you ring up a helpline you imagine guys and girls with white coats and lots of pencils in their top pocket, but I found them not very up on the product I was calling...
<br>
<br>but to sum up LH7500 a damn good machine

I found this review very helpful because...I just bought one on ebay. I'm hoping it will do what's required and doesn't faulter. Very helpful review especialy regarding the difficulty with playback on certain formats. I noticed other reviewers said they had a few problems with that as well.
