Good Points: Suspenseful, keeps audience captivated, comedy and action mix. Clear images and dialogue.

Bad Points: Not much DVD extra features. Subtitles were only for dialogue, didnt translate song lyrics or newpaper articles.

General comments: Memories of Murder is an award winning Korean movie. The movie builds on the suspense of the main plot and does not trail away from the truth of the story. The audience follows the path of the detectives, and I felt like we got frustrated as the detectives weren't able to progress. Palm Pictures brought one great suspense film from Korea to the US. Because the story is based on true facts, it make the mystery and the suspense part of the movie even more suspenseful. You always wanetd the detectives to find the killer, and everytime that they got closer you felt that danger/excitement of solving a case. The director showed an amazing image of Korea in the 80s, and it made me want to research more into this story. Also becuase I wonder what would the killer have thought of this movie, and what about the detectives themselves?? This is a movie that will make you think and if you watch it with friend you will have an endless discussion on what you think could be done now and you will end up analysing the last scene for hours! Its an incredible ending, and you shouldnt be fooled by thinking you know how it will end just becuase it is a movie based on true facts. Its a thought-provoking end! The Special features on the R1 DVD aren't complete - there could have been more features like information on the killings, and the actual case (as it is on the R2 versions) but the subtitled commentary of the interviews of the cast was very good. It's nice to learn more about these Korean actors - and learn who had to lose weight and who had to gain weight! :-) Overall its an amazing movie and should be watched at least once - even though I know you will watch it a 2nd time - to try and dig up more "evidence" of your own! :-)
