My dad found this at auction after my Corsa died a painful electrical death on the way home from gloucester, £600, 40,000 miles on the clock, and although i wasn't too pleased to be getting what i thought would be a slow, unreliable Peugeot i was proved wrong from the start! Since i bought it 2 years ago all it's needed were some interior things, a new door lock and a new exhaust, all dirt cheap as second hand parts are everywhere. Engine runs so well and is always giving more than you think it can, even though it's completely standard it's taken many 'rude bois' in their more powerful corsas and fiestas, etc. Since getting it i've done a few runs to blackpool and back (about 500 miles) no problem, and the only problems ive encountered in the 2 years of ownership is needing a new exhaust (emissions reasons) and a small oil leak (nothing too serious) Ive done 35,000 miles in it so far, and the wheel, gearstick, handbrake etc are still feeling pretty new The only downsides i can think of are the quality of the door trim, which keeps threatening to fall off, and it's a bit temperamental getting into reverse. The seats are excellent, i always get complimented on their comfiness, even on long journeys. In short, i really did not expect this car to last long, i didnt want it, and i was really setting it up for a fall from day 1. but by day 2 i was completely won over, and am still being amazed by it's resilience, especially being a cheap french car. would totally reccommend it to anyone looking for a runaround with cheap insurance!!!

I've owned my 106 1.1 XN Indapendance for almost 2 years now and I have to say I really do love this car. It's very fast for a 1.1 and very light since my moddle doesn't have powersteering or anything else to weigh it down. Without any mods it is pretty fast but with an aftermarket air filter it flys. Will do a top speed of about 115mph if push it and thats actualy off the clock lol. A lot of people I know have Corsa's and they aren't anywhere near as fast or as good handeling as my 106. Ofcause not everything is good about this car unfortunately. The main reason I only gave it 4 stars is because I've had a lot of things go wrong with it. Firstly my exhaust fell off and I needed a new middle pipe and back box, then it had a problem where the engine kept cutting off when it was warm which was caused by my O2 sensor, then I had to replace both drive shafts and my rear wheel barings, then I had to replace my fuel filter and then I had to replace all my brakes because something broke on my break shoes keeping them from working atall which then caused my front disc brakes to practicaly wear away. I ended up spending about £1000 to fix everything not to mention that most of that stuff went at about the same time so I did hate the car for a while but now its practicaly brand new all over it works great

The Peugeot 106 1.1 Zest 2 was my first car, it wasnt my first choice, but i have never looked back! i have owned it a year now and unfortunatly it must go to afford my VTR but has been great to own. I always thought a 1.1i wouldnt be quick, but actually its not bad, i dont care what the parkers specs say they lie its not 14.7 seconds to 60, with 3 people in the car i managed it in 11.3. the standard suspention is poor it rolls around the road like it was drunk, but i had spaX springs all round and it out handles any of my mates cars. These are really easy to make unique as parts are so cheap, also because its french it has s lot of character, little bits and bobs will go wrong, like my speedo doesnt work all the time and the fuel guage is vaigue. I would recomend it to anyone, so much that 2 of my mates have just bought them, mine sits just cm's from the floor though so can be unpractical.
Get one, you will be impressed. Good on fuel, Cheap to repair, easy to modify and work on. Bad points are rattles a bit, Little bits and bobs go wrong, (its french) but nothing major!!
