Good Points: Great images Ease of handling is incredible. A child could use this without problems. Massive viewing screen. Better than most with additional features. I love this camera! It is small but manageable, with colour filters and sepia within the settings and you can create some interesting shots. It also works with standard SD memory cards, and it will take bigger ones. I currently use a 1Gb memory card, and I can get 370 shots at medium quality.
Bad Points: As with other optio cameras battery life is not good, but get decent rechargeable batteries and they last for ages. I use Nimh 2500's, but I believe Lithium Ion batteries are better. The only other bad point is there is no viewfinder, just the screen at the back of the camera, and on a sunny day viewing can be difficult.
General comments: The Pentax Optio S55 digital camera is a great piece of kit!
Don't be put off by the negatives on this camera. Just get the right batteries and you won't have any problems.
Overall, I really rate this camera. The picture quality is great. The software is adequate but not outstanding. Do not buy the Pentax camera bag as it gives no protection at all to the camera. Pay a little more and get the Lowepro with has much better padding. One last point; get a good sized SD card. Also, the screen at the back does not do the actual photo justice, so look at it on a computer before deleting it, as you may just delete a great picture.
