“far too crowded classes”

As a new years resolution, I was determined to go to Slimming World again, as I had done that before and it worked, provided you stick to the plan. The last group I went to had moved to a new venue further away, so I found a new, more local class near me. I had phoned the consultant and had a nice chat with her on the phone. I agree with you on the overcrowded classes. Very demotivating especially when I have to drive 5 miles from home of an evening to go.

I just can't stop eating since i stopped going to Slimming world..I was eating fruit and yogurt ect to snack ..they said eat as much as you like so i was munching all the time..I got sick of the same foods and came of it now I am eating every half hour its a habit i got from slimming world..i don't like the way they question everyone i can be very shy and this also put me off… Read Full Review

“Makes sense, but only helpful if you can portion control”

The basis of this diet is the non mixing of carbs and protiens on one day, whilst allowing 'syns' which can be 'spent' on anything, providing you don't go over a certain amount. Now, the whole theory of the diet is great, loads of food choices, plenty of fresh fruit and veg all in unlimited portion sizes...herein lies the problem. I totally agree with you.
Try reading this or a similar book. The secret to losing weight is learning to eat 'normally' again. Diets cause yoyo and long term weight gain...

it will work ive lost 6st 3lb in 18 months only plan that has worked for me why arnt you on the extra easy plan the 'red/green' days can still be used but the new way is extra easy i never lost when i did red and green days years ago ,

There are a ton of resources out there to do this yourself, eat less and go to the gym 3 times a week and I promise you do not need anyone else to help you. Low carbs, high protein, cut out on sugars. You just have to decide yourself if you want this and Slimming world expects you to fail and that's why I left them… Read Full Review

slimming world dont want you to fail!!!! They are fab! so far in 7 weeks I have lost 19 and a half pounds! Nothing has ever worked for me before, in fact I thought nothing ever would! But this does!!!
Maybe susanscotty isn`t a real person, but person, but made up by other slimming products to make you use their products!!!!

How does Slimming World expect you to fail? Don't understand that comment...
Like Susan below I think the weekly meeting is an important part of what makes Slimming World so good- alright, the eating plan itself is fairly common-sense, but SW is more about the support and motivation. So you did it on your own- good for you- but plenty of people out there find that really difficult.

Hi everyone,
After reading amazing reviews I decided to join SW three weeks ago but I'm having a few problems. I followed every thing on the book on the first week and lost 2lb 1/2. Followed every thing again in the second week plus 4 - 30 mins long aerobic classes and put on 2lb :-(
I don't understand as everyone else seems to be losing weight in my group.

I understand that if one is on contraceptives there will be the risk of water gain which can be reflected in a gain of weight at times. If this relates to you, consider an alternative contraceptive or accept that your weight will fluctuate w/the water gain and counteract it by increasing water/acceptable liquid intake which will assist in water gain reduction through increased elimination.

I say hang in with it and it will be to your benefit. Best of luck.

Best to talk to your consultant. Also, you should be completing a food diary for the first few weeks. Show them to your consultant and he/she should be able to identify where you're going wrong. One of the girls in my group put on half a pound the first week . when we looked at her diary, it turned out she had been having a healthy a and b at every meal... breakfast , lunch and dinner !!

For me sometimes it was due to miscalculating my syn intake. Or the time of day i weigh myself.... when i was in group i try not to eat anything before weigh-in! Now i do my own weigh-in at home... the best time is in the morning before breakfast... i consider that to be my real weight... try not to weigh yourself everyday... once a week in enough!

only been there 2 wks lost 1lb first week and wasnt really sticking to diet. Had a night out planned so 10wkd and 4 red wines later was quite pleased with 1lb. stuck to diet religiously this week. I joined Slimming World because I wanted to loose the 2.5 stones I'd gained by eating the same portions as my partner (a male, and over a foot taller than me!) over a 12 months period! sometimes i hear the phase i m a two week person it be the week after you see the loss , but if you do stick to it and exercise you will lose i been now for 12 weeks started at 12 st 9 and now weight 9 st 12 and not once put on try hard but don't worry to much about it you will do great good luck

If other diets have not worked for you, SW is definitely worth a try. The diet is filling and full of variety. You have to be prepared to cook, and not to rely on too many ready-made foodstuffs. If you organise your shopping, you shouldn't go hungry and you should lose weight at a steady pace. I agree with another reviewer's comments about the poor quality of consultant it is possible to have if you are unlucky.
