I decided, after taking into account some of the awful reviews about 123-Reg that I would not buy web hosting for the following reasons - Many reporting website slow, not responding fast enough - Many reporting downtime and unexpected failures which shouldn't occur So I bought a domain instead and used one of my older computers (Packard Bell iMedia A3622 4GB RAM, total usable space 462GB) as a host. “got there in the end”

had an issue with our ssl key and plesk and could not get it to work, finally got put over to a senior tech and they helped rekey our cert. we finally got it installed and picked up by the domain after a struggle but we got there.. thank you for your patients and the help teaching me how to sort this in the future. the process to rekey the ssl could have been easier other providers give you the ability to do this yourself but with 123 you have to submit a support case or chat to them via… Read Full Review

“Watch your account carefully”

Probably the most expensive hosting service I have come across. If you don;t watch out they will hold any expired/expiring domains to ransom for the astronomic sum of £90 5 minutes after you find out it is expiring. Don't hold your breath if you want them to renew domains for you as I have lost two valuable and essential TLD's through their shenanigans. The initial registration price is competitive. You will need to manage your Domain carefully. Watch Out! When renewal time comes 123-reg will take cash from your Pay-Pal or Card without giving you notice and there's no refund once the cash is taken. “Watch out for extras”

I've been with 123-Reg for a few years now, both for domain registration and hosting. They used to include webmail in the domain fee but recently started charging extra for this service, without giving advance warning. So I was saddled with extra charges for recently-renewed domains, which I felt was a bit sneaky. “They do the job, support is lacking.”

Whilst 123-reg provide a stable and reliable domain registrar service, their support team could be more helpful. You never seem to speak to the same person and they consistently repeat themselves forcing you to resolve the issue yourself. I would only ever use this company for domain registration. Web hosting and other services tend to be badly setup. The 123 control panel is useless, always all over the place and they don't seem to be able to hold a cookie to keep you logged in. “Re-diection of mail sent via my domain”

I have changed my e-mail address and all I wanted to do was re-direct mail sent to my domain to the new address. I made contact by phone, not that easy to do, on two occasions and each time was told that the change had been made but mail continued to be delivered to my old e-mail address. “It Don''t Work”

“Support was good but as a pro things could be better”

Support was good via live chat. Sorted the problem quickly. I was frustrated as the support team operate 9pm to 5pm. The main problem with 123-reg is the antiquated website, lots of little bugs with such a terrible workflow. To get anything done on an admin level takes real effort. As a professional it bothers me however most home users would be fine. The domains aren't the cheapest either. I have now moved most of my domains away from 123-Reg. “Forwarding emails ”

I couldn't figure out why emails were not forwarded to my gmail account. It took several days to get a resolution as the person answering the support queries didn't seem to understand what my problem was and sent me down wrong paths. I've just had a chat with Marian in live support. She was really helpful, not only did she know what to do she did it for me and took away the stress - now that's real support! The problem is though is that it's not very easy cancelling domains, emails and whois privacy when they're not needed anymore. “Solving e-mail problems”

I reported loss of forwarding early in Sept, but got no reply because the default reply address was one which had lost forwarding instructions. Tried again on 24th Septafter altering preferred address, using live chat. Excellent and helpful response and one of the forwarding instructions was retrieved, but not the other. “Problem sorted in 3 hours”

The standard ecommerce package recommend that orders are confirmed before payment. In my experience some customers think they don't have to pay once they receive confirmation, so I was losing sales. 123Support was able to show me how to change the settings, though why they originally recommended otherwise is a mystery to me. “Excellent customer service”

Iuliana my live chat support was excellent, prompt and extra information was provided so not to lose my emails when I enquired for some advice. Customer service is about above and beyond well delivered. So was Richard my telephone support. Understood the symptoms and diagnosed with the correct remedy. “Works ok usually.”

I signed up originally with Supernames who were good but sold out to 123 reg. More difficult to get to the control panel and help desk not as quick. Charges are a bit vague (automatic charging of your card which you gave them 2 years previously, unless you turn this off.)
