Have had several french cars over the years and had no major problems with any of them. Decided to go for the Pluriel after much debate and am overall very pleased with it. I do have one quible, and that is that the engine fan seems to cut in an awful lot, even after a short journey. Could anyone tell me if this is normal!

Having had citroens for over ten years (all makes from the ax to the saxo and xara picassa) i bought this C3 Pluriel Converatble for my 40th as a little fun car to get me around now I have no prams, bikes etc to transport and I can do that with the family car when required. Anyway, I have NEVER had a problem with this in 3 years. I am the sole owner. Live in the west of scotland with one of the highest rainfalls in the uk and no leaks whatsoever. Great for parking in smaller spaces and nippy enough to get me back and forth to work on time. I actually feel quite safe in this too. I was given a Fiat 500 courtesy car when garage ripped my tyre and I can honestly say I was scare in that. The c3 certainly felt more sturdy and safe. Boot size pretty reasonable too and I can get a good load of shopping in there with ease. Overall good little car and you get what you pay for.

I like my little Pluriel. No more unreliable than any other Citoen (ie quite unreliable) and great fun as a little fresh air run-about. Yes, I have access to another car AND I garage it under cover, as the passenger side does occasionally leak. An amazing load carrier with the roof stowed away, wardrobes, mowers, play houses have all graced mine. I would probably be less keen if I`d bought new at full price. After seven or eight years use, i don`t feel it owes me much.

My daughter has just bought her first car - a Pluriel - and despite a lot of negative reviews on the car I have to say that it really is a little gem. First things first, I have personally had a lot of citroens of various models and without fail they have all had problems but when you have a citroen you have to put a lot of expectations aside. They are all quirky cars with a lot of great design ideas but (since Peugeot put their grubby little hands in the till) have been built by accountants. The Pluriel in particular is a good example of this. It is what it is an ugly car with the roof on, a slug with little or no performance irrespective of engine and gearbox combination, it has an overly complicated roof mechanism which bemuses and confuses happy amateur maintainers, it bowls down the road with all the presence of a sick pig and yes it leaks - but with the roof off and syder kit (lol) on, it is the prettiest thing on the road by far, cheap to insure and fun to drive. As for leaks here are some solutions we have found that have worked despite the summer so far - some vaseline along the door seals and roof seals (do this second one when the roof is off- it also lubricates the mechanism a little and so eases the stress on the woefully inadequate motors), dont put the windows up to their full extent as they compress / miss the seals totally allowing water in and if all else fails carry a towel. Since Peugeot Citroens have been built to a price and are cheap - if you want a water tight well engineered sporty little number then buy a solid top CC from another manufacturer

if anyone is thinking of buying one plz plz plz dont!!!!! this is without doubt the worst car i have ever had........fact... once you spend £600 on fixing one leak the day after another one pops up 15 seconds after. i honestly got less wet useing my bike in the rain. and its not just the roof........the locks on the boot fail i had 3,,,,they shake going over the smalest of bumps honestly its like driving a bloody bouncy castle with someone squirting you wih a supersoaker,....and i know 3 people with the same car and its not just mine thr all the same......and may i add the people who say this is a good car im sorry but you all need to just admit you hate the bloody thing coz i know deep inside you all do lol. do not buy this car u will be sorry or turn into one of them people who wont admit they made a mistake lol

As I have read from many many others the roof leaks on the passenger side leaving a puddle sometimes inches deep. My local citroen dealer say it will cost £100 just to dianose the problem - what a joke

I bought the sensodrive version from new costing £15,000 and have had nothing but trouble. It is DANGEROUS to drive as on numerous occasions it has cut out in the middle of the road with no gear selection and left me stuck there. It has locked me in the car when it wont start, and the lights come on at all times of the day and night draining the battery, also the alarm goes off. This car has been in the citreon garage so many times and still they cannot find out what is wrong with it. I would urge anybody that is thinking about buying one DONT it is a waste of money.

Have owned my pluriel from new, serviced every year etc by citroen dealership. New clutch I can understand. New roof at £3,500 inc. labour an absolute outrage!! STAY AWAY FROM THESE CARS Citroen, whilst agreeing its a common problem wont offer help in any form. My Car with 30,000 miles on it has now been reduced to a leaking bucket worth around £500 its a disgrace!!

There are some pretty lukewarm reviews of this car around - including one motoring correspondent who said it was a "nasty little car". I could nor disagree more! The 1.4 diesel engine is brilliant. It is punchy and has incredible torque. I do most of my driving in top (5th.) gear and rarely have to change down, even going up steep hills. This makes driving very relaxing. The cornering is also excellent, good grip and no roll. Best of all, I have averaged 68.8 mpg over the last 5000 miles including in traffic. The suspension is good, absorbing most bumps. My only criticism is a slight shudder over very rough patches but this is typical of a convertable. The ability to put the roof down into the boot - a little fiddly but OK when you get the hang of it - allows the transport of large pieces of furniture. And the there is the joys of open air motoring. I just love this car!

I really like my C3 convertible and never had a problem with it. It is really cheap and safe to drive. I can easily drive 500miles without filling it up.
However now I have my roof broken and will have to pay at least £150 to be repaired. It was very hard to find the problem and I still don't know where will end this story...
The roof is great but I have to say it is very difficult to remove it.

The Citroen C3 Pluriel is an affordable convertible car, Fun to drive for the first three years. The Problem with mine started to come out straight after 3 years. For example the power sterling, will cost me a few grand to fix it. Overrall, will not recommend anyone to buy one - rating 3 out of 10.

The Citroen C3 Pluriel is, without doubt, the worst car I have owned, and I've had some stinkers in my time! I originally bought it thinking my girlfriend wouldnt mind driving it, she hadnt got on with my previous, larger motors, but she hates this even more! and I, for one, don't blame her. Terrible car.

Bought the Citroen C3 Pluriel 1.4i as a well done for getting a promotion. Now on my 5th leak, upholstery ruined, spent £350 on new H seal which stopped the water coming out of the passenger speaker. Roof would not open and boot locked due to 'gradual mis-alignment, another £120 (although citroen dealer wanted £240)Replaced door seals ( £40)but still leaks on both sides and have a puddle in each footwell when raining. Had intermitant faults with windows not cIosing, the power steering going I give up, its got to go to some mug come spring ! Paid £6500 for 04 with 9000 miles, probably worth £4000 now if lucky. Had the whole roof off once all year. Wouldn't touch one again although engine wise its ok, but so it should be at 16,000 miles ! The worst thing is that my Dad has my old suzuki ignis and I have to look at it sat there behaving beautifully every day !!! People in the know smile and say 'yeah, the pluriel, they can be tempremental' duh!

I really enjoy owning this car. Full of character. I would have no hesitation in buying it again. I have never seen the need to remove the roof bars myself. With all the windows open and roof open it feels pretty cool. I like having the version with air conditioning: In really hot weather it makes life more comfortable; In damp cool weather it stops condensation on the inner surface of the windows. I achieve about 39 miles to the gallon.

The Citroen C3 Pluriel is an OK car - but not one to do any serious miles in. If you just wanted to potter about in something then it's fine. I would certainly NOT buy one that was out of warranty though! I've had one for a year and so far the back screen has sprung a leak, the wing mirror housing has fallen off, some trim inside has fallen down, it's leaking oil and the drivers door fails to shut properly as the window hits the roof...

I bought a Citroen C3 Pluriel in July 2004, my first ever new car. I loved the quirky design and the idea of owning a soft top was appealing.
It was the worst decision I've ever made!
I have never had the roof off as it has been with the dealers for most of the good weather.
The roof seals leaked and have been refitted 10 times.
