Very good for weight loss, fairly cheap compared to many diets. I have been doing the atkins diet for about a year, not always strictly and have lost 30 lbs.

Since my daughter was born I have been eating as if i'm still pregnant. My daughter is now 16 months and I have struggled to lose the weight. I told my doctor that I couldn't stop with the food cravings and she recommended the Atkins diet to help curve my cravings. It has been a week since I tried this diet, and I have to say my cravings have gone down and I have lost 10 lbs. I have also been going to the gym an hour a day, but I was going to the gym for the past 3 months and only saw a weight l ...

I've lost a little, but no more than on a low fat diet. It most certainly allows you to control hunger, but I found it expensive and requiring quite a bit of planning. I persoanlly found it restrictive and not great at fittting in with family life. The low carb sweets and bars gave me really, really bad wind!!! and the cereal bars were inedible, which totally limits my access to 'sweet' foods. So to me its just not life long as I must be able to eat these things sometimes. However I am going to ...

Te Atkins diet definitely works, I lost half a stone in practically no time at all. The question to ask is what is the long term effect on my body, the answer is I dont know.
The problem with this diet is that it can be quite expensive and there are a lot of changes to your diet and they way you eat. (I know this is true of all diets but Atkins is something a bit different)
Another problems with this diet is that the weight can very easily be put back on, and it can happen very quickly.
    I think ...

It is really easy to just eat the greasy foods, but if you really want this to work (and the weight to stay off), you NEED to eat your veggies and start to include fruit when you're allowed.

You will need to research how the body metabolism works to use Atkins' approach and tune it to your body in the final phases. If you can grasp the idea of insulin response to blood sugar surges, you're most of the way there. The other key concept is ketosis, not to be confused with ketoacidosis. Your body will experience very mild ketosis as it breaks down stored fat to maintain blood sugar levels. Soon, you will know what stable blood sugar level feels like and you will not want to go back to h ...

The great thing about atkins is the simplicity the speed you lose weight its a good diet IF YOU CAN HANDLE IT when I say handle it I mean, the horrible taste in your mouth the constant need to pee the headaches (That lasted longer than a week) the feeling sick pounding headaches I had these for a week. I had to quit because I had a terrible back pain in one side.

My biggest problem on Atkins is dining out as everything has sugar or high glycemic carbs in it. Also it can be expensive buying the right foods. Overall the diet works, but you must excercise to see the full benefits.

If you are a yo-yo dieter don't go on this diet because you will end up heavier than when you started. If you are seriously willing to commit to something that works and has restrictions then go for it...you have nothing to lose other than the ability to eat bread.

I did the Atkins diet for 30 days and lost 20 lbs. I must add that I did walk 2 miles 5x a week with this diet. I think it was great. I was never hungry. I have kept this weight off now for 2 years.

In order to lose weight on the Atkins Diet you need to exercise as well, even if it is just walking a mile a day.

You really need to read the book thoroughly to appreciate and fully understand the Atkins Diet and to follow the diet correctly, as there are a lot of untruths and misunderstandings around. I found the Atkins Diet very good. The food I was eating was delicious and satisfying and I did not need to go hungry. If you can cook or have a good idea how to, you can experiment using the foods allowed and create the most wonderful satisfying meals. I did find the powdered shakes quite disgusting until I ...

I've been on this Atkins Diet-following it 100%, I lost 6 lbs in 3 weeks, and the past week (4th week on it) i've not lost anything. I have emailed the uk web based atkins for help 3 times, and no response. I emailed the USA site twice and got one auto response - then almost TWO weeks later a useless email - with no answers to my questions. I dont have any extra energy- I feel miserable at the expensive dull food i'm eating, and i'm going to stop in a few days and try another diet as this one - ...

Atkins Diet - Considering that after the induction phase you'll find you have reduced sugar cravings and very rarely feel hungry it's a diet - or way of life that must be tried. I used to feel tired or sick if i didn't eat/snack regularly throughout the day, on Atkins I have to force myself to eat just to make sure I have.

I'd say you have to read the book for you to understand the science behind the diet or you are setting yourself up for failure. Going against everything we've ever been tau ...

The Atkins Diet, if followed ACCORDING TO THE GUIDELINES IN THE BOOK, is a very very effective low-carb weight loss programme and can also help control blood sugar levels, cholesterol levels and high blood pressure. However, many people find it difficult to follow correctly as it is very restrictive and most people cannot be bothered to read the literature.

The first 2 weeks or so you are very limited as to what foods you can and cannot eat and most people will suffer side effects of removin ...
