Lovely place location is ideal, just a short walk from the harbour. Breakfast was absolutely wonderful! The breakfast room is very pretty, there is plenty of choic and there is a great variety of cooked dishes. All very well done. Our room was impeccable and quiet, magnificent sea views out across Lynmouth Bay, and the bathroom was very comfortable and clean. The owners are really nice and helpful. The hotel is decorated to a much higher standard that the price would suggest. The bed are really comfy, rooms are pleasent looking. All in, great value, highly recommended for a short stay in Lynton & Lynmouth.

We felt relaxed the moment we arrived, Jane & Richard ensured that we had all the local information that we needed to make the most of our stay. Throughout there is attention to detail with lovely furnishings beautifully decorated and immaculately clean, our room was every bit as lovely as the photos on the website suggest. The breakfasts are by far the nicest that we have ever had at any hotel, with an impressive choice to suit all tastes. The location of Shelley's is ideal, in the centre of Lynmouth with sea views overlooking the bay - spectacular! We would recommend Shelley's to anyone wanting a peaceful and luxurious break, our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer tahn 2 nights. We will certainly return.

The hotel is spotlessly clean, the room was to a very high standard and well decorated and looked the same as the pictures found on the website. We have just got back from a 3 night stay, Shelley's is a warm and friendly hotel with everything you could wish for, we can't recommend it enough. All in all a very good hotel made even better by the friendly, helpful and informative hosts. Very very reasonable prices, perfect location central to everything, fabulous freshly cooked to order 5 star breakfasts.

Shelley's Hotel is a very good place to stop for a short break.
Great hospitality, good food, fantastic situation, close to a large choice of local restaurants for evening meals and a very clean and comfortable room.
Slept like a log both nights, I am usually someone who does not sleep well the first night away from home... so this must be a first!
This hotel deserves all the good reviews it gets, the owners have done a fantastic job, it isn't pretentious just quality and classy.
It was so hard to leave and we will be back!

The area is riddled with stunning coastal walks and scenic footpaths, and there are breathtaking views at every turn in the road.
Overlooking the bay and harbour in Lynmouth, at the foot of the Glen Lyn Gorge, this hotel is ideally situated to take advantage of everything the area has to offer.
Shelleys has been refurbished to a very high standard, with comfortable beds, lots of hot water in the shower, and expensive soft furnishings, but the atmosphere is relaxed and informal.
The owners are charming and endlessly helpful to their guests, and all in all it would be difficult to find any fault with Shelleys.
There is an very comfortable lounge and an honesty bar, and if all you feel like doing is relaxing with a book and a glass of wine, its there for you.

Best in Lynton & Lynmouth.
Shelley's is a wonderful small hotel, very comfortable and very smartly decorated with a touch of something special, a lovely looking hotel in a landmark location the heart of Lynmouth overlooking the bay.
The hotel rooms are delightful, comfortable kingsize beds, sea views and some have delightful private conservatories.
Breakfast is a real treat in itself, a wide choice all freshly cooked to order, no having to pre-order the night before.
The coastline is stunning, Exmoor stirs the imagination, the contour of the dramatic cliffs, deep wooded valleys with tumbling streams and empty moors all make for a wonderful for a relaxing break.
So if you want to treat yourself, Shelley's gets my vote, it has to be the best in Lynton & Lynmouth.

We stayed at Shelley's in August for 3 nights as part of our 2 week touring holiday driving around the Devon and Cornwall, it was fabulous. Our hosts made us feel very welcome, were knowledgeable about the area, and gave us good advice on where to dine.
Shelley's has to be one of the best locations in Lynmouth with its superb sea views from the breakfast room and nearly all of the bedrooms, the view across Lynmouth Bay from our conservatory balcony room was really lovely.
Shelley's is decorated to a very high standard indeed, spotlessly clean, well presented and very tastefully furnished throughout.
The freshly cooked to order breakfasts are just wonderful with a great choice of quality produce from a really excellent full breakfast to scrambled egg with smoked salmon, kedgeree, kippers, and waffles served with maple syrup.
For a relaxing, peaceful, perfect holiday break, then Lynmouth is the place to go to get away from it all and enjoy the absolutely magnificent coast and countryside of Exmoor National Park.
Overall we all wish we could have stayed longer and we will definitely come back again for a longer stay. After a fortnight on the road around the South West this was by far the best hotel, altogether a wonderful stay!

Altogether a wonderful stay. Excellent warm welcome, assistance with bags and helpful advice. Fantastic location with sea and valley views. Well appointed lounge and dining room, both with lovely views. Superb breakfast with a large choice of food for personal menu selection each day, so you are able to choose as much or as little as you like.
Many lovely touches, the bedroom well presented and furnished. Recommend unreservedly.

We had three lovely days at Shelleys, a few years ago we stopped at Shelleys for a couple nights and always promised ourselves that we would return.
Shelley's is lovely with really great standards in a very informal way but are always on hand if you need any help.
Large, comfortable beds with good quality furnishings and a few really nice touches and attention to detail that gave a feeling of luxury and breakfast really is as good as previous reviews say, hearty with plenty of choice
The best rooms are the conservatory balcony rooms, it was a fabulous place to sit and take in the splendid views. The extra we paid was fully justified, the rate was very fair and their Exmoor Breaks offer is excellent value.
Location is as central as you could wish for and Lynmouth makes a great base from which to explore Exmoor National Park, whats more there are lots of places to eat in the evening to suit all pockets.
Shelley's is very highly-recommended and having spent too many long hours in airport lounges we will definitely be returning next year.

We had a good journey home but we are missing Shelley's Hotel and Lynmouth already!
We had a wonderful mini-break, the hospitality is fantastic, the food was superb, the room and location was just what we were hoping for.
I really loved the huge supply of magazines, books and all the little finishing touches that make one feel so welcome and looked after.
Just the thing to recharge the batteries.
Thanks again for a lovely few days, we look forward to coming again soon!

We stayed at the lovely Shelley's and enjoyed the experience very, very much.
This is an area overlooked by many, so we would very much like to encourage others to travel there and especially to stay at Shelley's.
We had a very nicely decorated and spacious room with splendid sea views, the breakfast is top notch too, however the real plus is that the care and attention shown by the proprietors, they make their guests feel welcome. A perfect place to relax and enjoy watching life go by.

We feel Lynmouth Shelley's Hotel is a hidden gem, we received a very warm welcome on our arrival, the relaxed atmosphere, excellent breakfast that sets you up for the day, the beautifully appointed rooms and stunning sea views across Lynmouth Bay are the perfect combination and, in our opinion offer good value for money unmatched by some of the larger more expensive hotels in the South West.
We travelled a long way to get to Shelley's but it was absolutely worth it, the fact that our journey is some three hundred and fifty miles each way says it all.
We will definitely visit again, and highly recommend it, we await our next visit this Autumn with eager anticipation.

My husband and I found Shelleys Hotel in Lynmouth Devon quite by chance on a trip to Exmoor three years ago, and since then we have returned several times to enjoy the different seasons.
This time we stayed only 3 nights, and wished it had been longer.
The hotel is extremely comfortable and the hosts very welcoming. Shelley's provides an ideal base for Exmoor, and there are excellent restaurants within walking distance, beautiful coastal walks, and places to visit nearby.
All in all Shelley's is an excellent hotel with really high standards, Large, comfortable beds, and a few really nice touches and attention to detail that gave a feeling of luxury. They have lovely light and airy rooms, with good quality furnishings.
The best rooms are the conservatory balcony rooms - a conservatory extension to the bedroom leading to the balcony, which was a fabulous place to sit, relax, and take in the excellent views, and just chill out with a G&T.

Our room was very clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated to a high standard. Shelley's is well situated just a stones throw away from the shops, restaurants and harbour, yet it is quiet and peaceful.
I booked this hotel based upon reviews on this site and was not disappointed. We can confirm everything good that has already been said about Shelley's.

Shelley's hotel provides an ideal base for the area, excellent restaurants within walking distance, beautiful coastal walks, places to visit nearby. If you are coming to North Devon and Exmoor stay here. Shelley's is very comfortable, rooms well appointed, the bar cozy and the owners - Jane & Richard very welcoming. A perfect place to stay with a great breakfast every morning. We found many choices, coffee, tea, milk, juices, cereals, and toast as well as full English breakfast, kippers, kedgeree, scambled egg & smoked salmon and waffles just fantastic in a cheerful breakfast room with magnicient views.
Our experience was wonderful - can think of nothing bad to say - it was all very very good indeed.

We chanced upon Shelley's a couple of years ago and loved it. The location is perfect, the hotel comfortable and clean, and Richard and Jane really nice people. We promised ourselves a return visit and so this year we went back. We were not disappointed. An excellent hotel with really great standards. Light, airy rooms with good quality furnishings. Large, comfortable beds and a few really nice touches and attention to detail that gave a feeling of luxury. The best rooms are the conservatory rooms with a balcony - the conservatory being an extention to the bedroom leading to the balcony which was a fabulous place to sit and take in the excellent views. Location is as central as you could wish for and parking close by was easy. Hearty breakfast with plenty of choice and friendly hosts made our stay relaxed and enjoyable. We stayed only 2 nights and wished it had been longer.
