“Really awful, patchy paint”

Written on: 02/12/2014 by Roberts295 (1 review written)

Lovely colour (french grey) and matches some LA wallpaper but my goodness this is a terrible product. In common with previous reviewers this dried in patches and has proved impossible to rectify three more coats later. Will be getting a colour match in Dulux to rectify the problem. Don't buy this stuff… Read Full Review

“A sample tin was enough to put me off!”

Written on: 06/11/2014 by Trippe55 (1 review written)

The colour is supposedly Pale Dove Grey - but is in fact a creamy yellow. I'm wondering if this is just the paint base and they forgot to add the 'grey,' especially since the pot is only half full. Even on my little test patch the quality was awful with 3 coats. It's a no from me!… Read Full Review

“Laura Ashley Matt Emulsion”

Written on: 13/09/2014

I have been decorating on and off for over forty years using a variety of paint brands and have never had a problem. The Pale French Grey we used to decorate our bedroom is truly awful. We're on the fourth coat and can't get rid of the patches and different tones. The finish varies between brush applied, i.e. around the edges, and roller applied. I've even tried doing the whole lot with a brush and still ended up with patches. Would definitely not recommend or use again. Looks like I'm going to… Read Full Review

“RUBBISH - NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE PAINT”

Written on: 29/08/2014 by HelenaDoherty23 (1 review written)

Having purchased Pale French Grey direct from Laura Ashley, after our experienced painter followed guidance procedures on tin/s, the paint proved to be defective and of extremely poor quality, not covering walls correctly. After complaining to Laura Ashley customer services, their attitude was very poor and confirmed there was nothing wrong with their paint. It has cost us dearly by having to buy more paint by different manufacturer to cover walls correctly and more cost to get painter to… Read Full Review

I had the same problem with Laura Ashley Pale Seaspray paint. I contacted customer services who asked for photos of evidence, receipt and batch number to be provided. I sent everything they requested apart from the batch number as we did not keep the empty tin in the house. They said that they couldn't do anything without the batch code from the paint tin as they couldn't test the sample. My pictures clearly show that 2 coats left patchy walls. I am going to take it further, I am not going to give up. As you said the customer services is rubbish.
I also purchased Dulux paint and one coat resolved my problem.

I'm sorry to hear you have experienced the same.
I supplied batch number and photo's..
This is Laura Ashley's response to their paint which is not fit for purpose:

Many thanks for your email, I am unable to offer you the refund as requested as we have completed the stringent tests as previously advised and we have found no problems with the batch numbers and stand by our decision that the complaint is not justified due to the results from the QC department.

They did not recognise their product is faulty.

I wish you luck!

“I think its great paint”

Written on: 27/08/2014 by TonyPx (1 review written)

I’m surprised at the number of poor reviews. I’ve used Laura Ashley ‘ivory’ and ‘summer pudding’ emulsion for two decorating projects in the last two years and I’ve been completely satisfied with it. I’m an average ability amateur home decorator who has used the ‘standard’ brands many times over the years. Laura Ashley paint is different in that it’s much thicker. My experience is that it looks a patchy mess after the first coat. The second coat can still look messy… Read Full Review

“Nice colour - rubbish paint”

Written on: 16/08/2014 by FlorenceNightshade (1 review written)

Beautiful colour and an exact match to fabric BUT went on and was so patchy. Second and third coat have only resulted in barely acceptable covering. Expensive paint but not worth the money. I would never use again and would not recommend… Read Full Review

“4 coats and still patchy”

Written on: 09/07/2014 by wvRandall399 (1 review written)

I put on first coat of Laura Ashley eau de lil matt over previous white matt emulsion and it dried patchy, but I thought this was understandable for first coat. Applied second coat and still very patchy, so lightly sanded wall again and applied 3rd coat. To my despair the wall was still patchy with some powdery blue deposit. I then bought a new roller and a new tin of paint, as I really liked the colour. I applied a fourth coat yesterday and, although slightly improved, there is still… Read Full Review

“Patchy disaster, ended up having to use another brand!”

Written on: 12/06/2014

I've been decorating for more years than I care to remember and used many types of paint and different brands and this is the worst paint I have ever used. The paint Laura Ashley Hedgerow, matt emulsion. Beautiful colour, if only it would dry one shade. When you first apply this paint you think it looks OK, until it dries and I was left with a blotchy, patchy mess of a mix of blue green and a yellow green finish amongst the general colour. I have never had a problem like this before and no… Read Full Review

“Terrible paint, patchy and rubbish. ”

Written on: 31/05/2014 by McKnight313 (1 review written)

Paint was £25 a tin. For 3 walks in a small room I thought this would be fine but required 2 tins. Found this odd as only required one tin for a larger room when I used a different manufacturer. After 2 coats is is still patchy, the edges in particular look terrible. I will now need to redo this with another brand. Very expensive and terrible paint. Many specks of red in the tin. Will never use this product again… Read Full Review

“Over rated waste of money”

Written on: 13/05/2014 by McClearyzs300 (1 review written)

Used this product in Matt emulation, after the customer had bought it, first coat went on but showed all the cutting in, it was the first coat so didn't really worry too much. After the third coat it still showed round all the edges and also showed any filling that had been done. After talking to the custermer I recommend We tried using a different brand to which he agreed. One-coat of Johnstones later and We now have a perfect finish... Terrible product… Read Full Review

“Do not buy Laura Ashley Emulsion”

Written on: 06/05/2014

Just bought 5 litres of Pale Duck Egg and half way down the tin there are small flecks of blue powder. Called the helpline number on the tin and it's 10p/min and they can call you back in 48h. At £42 a tin I expect much better, and real customer service when you get a problem. Steer well clear !!!… Read Full Review

“Matt emulsion ”

Written on: 29/01/2014

I am taking the paint I bought yesterday back to the shop. The paint is difficult to apply without uneven cover.Despite being well mixed I was horrified to find that there were particles of deep blue in it which of course ruins the whole thing and streaks of it have to be wiped off...a disaster. This is the most expensive paint I have ever used and definitely the worst. Great pity as it was the perfect match for the wallpaper I bought there… Read Full Review

“Homebase Laura Ashley paint not true Laura Ashley colours”

Written on: 05/12/2013

We bought a can of Laura Ashley kitchen paint in Ivory from Homebase and painted our kitchen. Needed more paint and this time bought same paint from Laura Ashley shop and painted the second coat. Horrified to find this can a slightly different colour and thicker. This meant we had to buy a third can meaning our kitchen paint job ended up being a costly affair. I will never buy Laura Ashley paint in Homebase again as it is clearly not the same colour range as that sold in Laura Ashley shops… Read Full Review

“Was dubious due to reviews but couldn't of been happier ”

Written on: 04/03/2013 by Lexyloulou (1 review written)

This is the only review i have written and i felt compelled to do so as there are such mixed reviews. This is Fab paint i was initially concerned that it would be thin, drippy and not for a novice like some say - i couldn't of been more wrong. I chose Laura Ashley - Pale Eau de nil, from Homebase. Living in a Victorian building my walls were far from perfect, it has covered all the imperfections, it went on evenly and did not drip once! The colour is just beautiful!! This was my first… Read Full Review

“Extremely Happy with Laura Ashley Emulsion Paint”

Written on: 25/03/2012 by Peggysue1952 (1 review written)

I arranged a professional decorator to paint my old cottagte using country white on ceilings, creamware on walls and old gold around open fire place. Looks absolutely fantastic and decorator said it was amongst the best paint ever used. You definitely pay for good quality and better coverage than cheaper brands. Will definitely use again and colour range is lovely and suits my country cottage. … Read Full Review

Written on: 11/03/2011 by HU01405 (6 reviews written)

Terrible emulsion paint, we hired a professional decorator who achieved a perfect finish throughout the house using different paint. Then came the Laura Ashley fiasco, the paint is blotchy, uneven & leaves streaks, the painter was very unhappy @ using this product, just as I am with the finish. Contacted Laura Ashley, they said the paint was OK, but they can supply replacement paint if I wish, they refused the offer to come out to view the mess that their paint has created. I would give this… Read Full Review

I have also bought laura ashely paint in truffle to match their wallpaper. Paint is still streaky after 3 coats . Shop sold me another tin to go over it,however one tin should cover a 12 ft wide wall covering new thick lining paper. Still streaky, just rung customer services and a girl has told me that they cant do anything because I should have mixed the two together before commencing.I am furious, One tin should cover easily.Wont recomend to anyone and will tell everyone about poor product and service . Need a solution, wallpaper great but streaky wallls.
