Good Points: Cheap, no problems if you don't actually need them to do anything.

Bad Points: You get what you pay for. Poor customer service.

General comments: Having had a policy with Swiftcover for 2 and half years, I tried to cancel the direct debit payment for my car insurance during the third year only to be told I had to pay a £102 early cancellation fee (my monthly payments where only £60!). I explained I could not pay this immediately and was informed that I had 2 weeks to pay otherwise they would take further action to pay. Furthermore, as a company that is meant to be specialised in managing your policy by their website, there is no facility to cancel the policy via the web, meaning you have to ring them. When I purchase a car in the next couple of months I certainly will not be using this company again simply down to their poor attitude and they will hence lose out on approximately £600 worth of business.

I read the reviews of Swiftcover insurance and decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, what a fool I was. I made a "not at fault" claim in November 2007, I sent Swiftcover photo's of the vehicle that hit me, the junction that it happened at and the other drivers details, many e-mails later that I sent them there has still been no result, they could not find the photo's I sent, the person dealing with my claim went on holiday, they only update you when you e-mail them. I have now lost 2 ye ...

Swiftcover are just not worth it. I was so discouraged by their poor handling of the transfer of my no claims bonus that I didn't want to trust them with the value of my car. I immediately got cover with another company instead and cancelled the swiftcover policy. Because they delayed so long, they are now saying I can only have 85% of my money back. Four month later and they still haven't refunded any money.

When cancelling policy due to sale of car, was disgusted to find Swiftcover Insurance demanded a charge of £42 for this despite a direct debit payment of £24 just coming off days before. I told them I was not paying until I'd had a chance to check this and instantly received a letter from them saying they were now referring me to an external debt recovery agent.

Appalling service, lost my proof of NCD letter from my previous insurer twice! have not respond to my emails yet. They have a premium rate telephone number....and have not received a penny of the cash back promised on joining. Don't touch this company with a barge pole save your money and check reviews before signing up for cheap insurance. I took the advice from Martins money saving forum about swift cover being cheap...there is more to insurance than price! Buyer beware!

I have now been without my car for at least three weeks while it sits in a garage waiting approval for a 48 hour repair job. This company claims it advised me to take it to an approved garage but they have never responded to my requests to name an approved dealer competent in hybrid cars. They have clearly prevaricated and delayed taking action. I particularly resent the accusation that I myself am the cause of my misfortune. My only fault was to move from a reliable insurer to Swiftcover. It s ...

I've had policy with Swiftcover for 8 days. Was lured by a low premium - £40 saving over a more expensive but well established insurer. After few days of battling with customer service who did not want to accept my NCD proof I gave up and came back to my previous insurer. This company is poor. Would definitely not recommend -

The quote process was pretty good through confused.com which brought up Swift as being the cheapest.Did not decide to go ahead because the cover was not as comprehensive as what I have been used to, [Churchill] whose customer service has been quick and readily insure garages courtesy cars for no extra cost whenever our car is in for a service.

I have been bowled over by the excellent service I have received which is completely at odds with some of the comments on this site. My wife had an accident and scraped the car and within 3 hours of reporting it to a charming and helpful handler (who gave me a choice of VW approved repairers to use), the garage had not only made contact with us but had despatched a truck to recover the car from our house and delivered a replacement vehicle. Not only that but the courtesy car was a new Ford Focus ...

I had an accident on February the 14th 2008, it is now March 28th and i am no further forward with getting this whole situation sorted with Swiftcover Insurance. I had a hire car for 2 weeks in the middle of this period but at every stage of proceedings they drag their heels in order to make everything as difficult as possible. Customer Services is non existent, they do not return phone calls or emails, I have spent a total of 45 pounds on the 0871 number so far and spoken to a different person ...

I was recently involved in a rather frightening accident in which I ended up being hit by another driver. Some twenty minutes later (and still in shock) I called Swiftcover to put the wheels into motion. Before I knew it swift had decided, based on a ten minute phone call where I spoke very little sense, that I was to blame! It doesn't matter how much evidence I provide they simply do not want to know and as a result I have lost two years no claims. Swift were rude and unsympathetic to me. They ...

Great if you need a cover note. RUBBISH if you ever make a claim. Appear to do all they can not to pay out on claims. One way of achieving the cheap premiums.

I had a non fault accident and contacted swiftcover but was told that i would have to pay the policy excess before anything further could be done. I have never had this occur with any other insurer and was amazed at swiftcover's procedure.

Swiftcover Insurance review - I was involved in a relatively complex accident in mid-January, but which was ultimately caused by a van driver changing lanes a few feet in front of me and braking. At first glance it would appear to be my fault, as I hit the back of the van, but a witness statement from the driver that hit me from behind would absolve my liability.2 months later, after hassles with a disagreement between the repair company and swiftcover, I get the final decision. Completely my li ...

Apologies if this is clipped but there's lots so I've done it for brevity: My car was stolen in January and recovered three weeks later. I was told it had been assessed and was being written off. I let my insurance lapse only to be told three weeks later they had changed their mind! For your own sanity, avoid! Swift's catalogue of poor service: Took 48 hours after reporting theft, two phone calls, two emails and logging the claim online before they responded. Courtesy Car I paid extra to hav ...

I feel exhausted after a non-fault accident. Car deemed a total loss as repair cost exceeded value of car - although if insurance companies recommend dealerships then what do you expect! Once a settlement was made 'less any outstanding premium'... I discovered I would be paying nearly £200 for a car that couldn't be driven and taken as salvage as I had to pay the remaining 10 months of the policy. I was subsequently informed that I wouldn't lose this premium if I chose to insure another ...

Where to start? Had a non fault claim back in June 2007 where a van pulled out of a junction and came out too wide hitting the side of the car, no one injured and nothing major, but obviously front and rear doors needed replacing. Their approved repairers Bridgend Ford had the car 3 months and returned it with shocking repairs and they even broke accessories on the car, returned it with a huge scratch all along the other side of the car which was nothing to do with the accident and if that wasn' ...

After having my wing mirror wiped off by a truck I contacted Swiftcover Insurance. I gave them the details of the driver and his number and company. This was on 1/11/07 I am still waiting in the mean time I have been ringing for updates as they don't bother to tell you!. I received absolutely outrageous customer service from the customer service rep who spoke to me like I was 10 and would not let me get a word in edgeways. I placed a complaint twice and have still not heard regarding my compl ...

I had problems logging into the SwiftCover website and these took some time to be resolved. Having made a claim in November and submitting the details online almost straight away, it took almost a week for their agent to contact me to find out the details and arrange the repair. The representative responsible for my claim has not replied to my emails yet asking for information about the claim and the details of this are not kept up to date on the website. Three months later, having already co ...
