Good Points: Price. Specification. Comfort. Power. Internal space.

    Bad Points: Fuel economy!

General comments: I didn't really go out looking for a Saab, but I fell in love with my 9-5 the moment I saw it! It's like driving a ballistic sofa! The power seems to be endless and is totally effortless to drive. The estate can swallow a massive amount of luggage and the whole thing is probably the best large estate car you can buy for the money. A Volvo is bigger, but they are ugly by comparison. Only the fuel economy lets it down. I drive a combination of town and long distance and get an average of 34mpg. If you drive briskly, this will come down to around 23mpg and towing a caravan, as we do, will put you around 25mpg.

Interior is well laid out for controls and back seat fold in half or both go forward. Plenty of room for ski's.
Good for occasional carrying of odds and ends from around the house.

The seats are the most comfortable I have ever sat in. Especially for a bad back!
I've done 77,000 miles on car and had no major problems.
Turbo and transmission are rock solid.

We had heard from friends how good SAAB's were but it was not until we owned one we realised just what they were talking about. Clarkson summed it up on the Top Gear programme, he said "when you ask a SAAB owner just what it is about SAAB's they just give this this knowing smile". That sums it up, Quality, Style, Individuality, Performance, Space, Safety, Value for money. Where can you buy all this for under £25,000 and own the safest car in the world for the last three years?
