I wish I had read the reviews before making the journey to this 'Bridal' store. I had seen a particular dress that I wanted to try on and was informed that this was the only shop in the South East stocking the sample gown. I made an appointment and a 60 mile trip to get there. The woman who served me was pleasant enough after much enticement from me by way of politeness, the other member of staff clearly would rather not have had customers! I cannot believe this place has the nerve to open their doors and trade in this unprofessional way. After being glared at by the crone behind the counter she eventually let my party in. If I book in advance and it is pouring rain, I do not expect to be left outside while the staff stare at me through the window. After finally getting in I cheerfully smiled and tried to give my name. Terrible place. I went and selected my dress and they called me later to say they couldn't do the fitting as the dress maker's husband had died. I was so sorry for the poor woman but they told me that there was nothing to do about it. They offered me (and made it clear that this was the only time) a different day and time when I was not available as I am a teacher and it was my class's sports day. We were buzzed into the store, which is now called Orange Blossom.. possibly to get away from the poor reviews on here and other sites. We are new to the area and there isn't a lot of choice and were faced with the unfriendly faces of two ladies. I purchased my wedding dress from their shop in Croydon which closed down & i was transferred to the Sydenham branch. My experience from Croydon was very pleasant unlike the Sydenham branch. I went there for my fitting and it was very disappointing. The woman who fitted my dress wasn't particularly friendly and I felt like i was bring rushed, the area upstairs for the fitting wasn't very nice, the seats were very dated and the whole area needed doing up. The staff at the sydenham branch were very rude, I visited 3 other bridal shops before choosing my dress and had a great experience in all of them appart from ring o roses, the staff are rude,the shop is dirty and at one point I saw 2 girls sharring a changing room.
Buying your wedding dres should be one of the most exciting times in a girls life so do not go to Ring o Roses,
It is a low budget shop but you would still expect the staff to be helpful and polite. I have never known...

I have been to 6 shops, this is the worst service ever! I already had some ideas before going to the shop, but still wanted to try some other styles. The assistant only allowed me to choose 4 dresses to start with, and then she left me in the fitting area with dress one, and found me a few others, i didnt like none of her choice, but I still tried on , just being polite. When I arrived at the store I tried 3 dresses not because of my size but because I'm fussy. The first fitting at Ring O' Roses, Sydenham a few weeks later was a different experience. I did feel pressured to hurry up, and the staff who took my balance payment seemed unhelpful and rather rude to me. I had no feeling of 'you're the customer - who has just paid £1000 for a dress by the way - and we appreciate your custom'.

I had a wonderful experience this week at the Ring o Roses bridal shop. They were so pleasant and the girl really knew her stuff with regards to the dresses. I went in wanting a hippyish flowers in hair and no shoes kind of wedding dress and came out with a gorgeous and intricately beaded glamorous dress...and veil.....and tiara!!! I had always imagined shopping for a wedding dress as a fun and exciting experience but I didn't find that here. If you are looking for a large selection of low-cost dresses then you should find something (most of the ones I saw appeared to be between £400 - £1,000
I called the shop to let them know I would be 15 mins late and was informed this would be deducted from my allocated slot. Apparently this is 1 hour, even though I had not been told this over the phone when making the appointment...

I am glad that a few of you have had a great experience at the Ring O Roses shop. Getting married is one of the most important days of your life and buying a dress should be a wonderful experience. I can only hope that they have hired some new staff and have also improved their customer service skills along the way.
Lets hope so, for all the other brides to be.....
I had a wonderful wedding day in the end but my experience at ROR was a disgrace and would never recommend it!

I guess they have a reasonable selection, and it is good to see what styles they have, but I would not recommend Ring O Roses.
On my second visit to the shop, the staff were very unfriendly - once I'd parted with some cash. When I turned up to try on some shoes, with the sample wedding dress, they raised their voices because this was my second appointment. They had allowed me to make this appointment, which apparently they shouldn't have done (only allowed one shoe fitting).

But I would just like to thank them for their assistance, advice, patience and understanding. They did a great job and other than a few hiccups, they were mavellous.
I have recommended them to friends and family, who have been happy with the service they have had.
I wish that they would bring back the first Sales Assistant I saw, as she was absolutely marvellous.

Good to read one good comment I guess, although it's interesting that you say some of the shop staff need to learn some customer service skills - I totally agree.
<br/>I've already ordered a dress from the store and I'm feeling apprehensive about it. When my dress finally comes in should I trust the fitter/seamstress to make any amendments or would you advise me to take it away and get someone else to do it?

I also had the worst experience at that branch, the staff you have there are rude and the dresses are dirty and smelly. They wasted time then they started rushing me. I wanted to cry they forced dresses on me not listening to my view of what I want. I hate that branch I would never recommended anyone to go to that branch. They should change the staff there. I went to the Ring O' Roses store and they were nothing but helpful, and I enjoyed purchasing my dress there. Maybe everyone has a bad day, but they were on top form for me!! Also, the dresses you try on aren't the ones you buy, so it doesn't matter what they are like.

<br/>Because apparently, they only allow you to go back ONCE to try on any shoes you have bought with the sample dress (this is after you have ordered your dress and they have taken 50% of your deposit). It is very difficult to organise this all in one viewing. How many shoes are you supposed to buy all in one go? They're not cheap! I was given the impression by a member of staff that I could keep going back to the shop to try on the sample dress with my new accessories etc. Why did she not reiterate there and then that I could only do it once?
<br/>All they had to say was “It’s in your terms & conditions”.

<br/>The staff made me cry today, because they've ruined the whole experience. Buying a dress, particularly a bridal dress, should be a wonderful experience. The staff (all three of them) would not initially allow me try on the sample dress with my new shoes – which I’d bought online and had to return within seven days.

I had the most horrible experience at Ring of Roses, Sydenham, London, wedding dress shop. To cut a very long story short I was forced to leave the shop with my wedding dress looking like I had huge bulges growing out of my side and rear, the whole dress looking absolutely terrible and nothing like the sample dress I ordered. Totally agree. Just walked out of here today mid conversation with the deeply unpleasant woman on the 'reception' desk. She was just lucky I was in a good mood and not prepared to take her to task about the rude, unprofessional way I was greeted. She treated me and my bridesmaids as an inconvenience rather than a customer. Sadly for her I took my money elsewhere. I don't know many businesses who can afford two grand to walk out the door. But it did.
