Ordered an Easter egg but after phoning to check tracking (no tracking number available on line) was told that it had gone to main post office as there was apparently no reply at delivery address (daughter waited in all day and had mobile to hand as also left a contact number in case of issues). No collection card left and told to call post office myself to sort! Appalling service. AVOID!! (read more)

The single worst online shopping experience ever. Wish you could give no stars. Ordered online, no delivery a week later. Went onto Facebook to ask for an update, apparently a field was left blank so delivery could not be made (my fault, which I accept) - however, no contact from Thornton's or delivery company advising me of this, I had to chase them. I provided them with the information that was required and was assured that delivery would be quick. Another week later and still no delivery... (read more)

Ordered for Easter on a great offer. Fast, efficient delivery & came in a nice big box, well packaged so nothing broken. They even have an online tracker so you can check on what's happening with your order. Free personalised icing writing too which was lovely! Nothing negative. (read more)

Every Christmas I used to buy my elderly aunt a 1kg Box of Thornton's Continental for a little less than £30.00 She loved them, they were special, they were of high quality and everyone was happy. Over the last few years Thorntons have been appearing on supermarket shelves practically everywhere, and the shops have been disappearing from the high street. For the last couple of years the chocolates have been 'discounted' (or that's what we've been led to believe) and they are now... (read more)

My mother had a problem with Thorntons Chocolate company's delivery. She ordered from the company website. She checked their web site, lots of options and chose several packages and placed her order. They gave the order to a courier company who said that they just left it on the door step. We don't know; we never saw it, maybe kept the package. Thorntons obviously did not send it in plain brown paper wrapping, but one with "Thorntons" all over it. So someone stole it. She reported this... (read more)

I ordered Easter gifts and paid extra for next day delivery. The eggs should have been delivered on 4th April, however as of today the 10th April (after Easter!) they are still not delivered. I have emailed Thorntons 3 times and called them, also chased the courier. Thorntons have not responded once to my emails and did not call me back as promised. Also the courier company have not responded to me once. The company have not attempted delivery once! I am extremely disappointed with both... (read more)

I ordered chocolates on 29th November. They were supposedly sent out on 2nd Dec. When I noticed on the tracking that they hadn't moved by Mon, I rang and emailed. They said they would sort it. [Carriers fault]. Tuesday, I called again. Again told it was the carrier, but they would resend the order to get there the next day. As this would make it the 5th working day, I had no comeback on them and when I asked if they would refund the postage, they refused saying they were delivering within 5... (read more)

Although Thorntons chocolate is very nice, I have now ordered on-line 3 times and each time it has either been lost or had to be resent. I am currently waiting for a present to be delivered, ordered on 4 December they do not answer e-mails and phoning they say they can't do anything about it, its the courier! So they wont do anything. Avoid buying on-line, you waste a lot of time and money chasing them. (read more)

Thorntons chocolate is yummy! It melts in your mouth, and it isn't very expensive. It can be a bit sickly if you eat too much of it, and Thorntons have such a big selection of chocolate, you don't always know what to buy. (read more)

Thorntons Continental chocolates are by for the nicest in the world. Living overseas in Australia we find them very hard to get hold of and rely on relatives to bring them over when they visit. (read more)

Thornton's is a great shop for buying chocolate, fudge and loads more lump shush stuff.
Most of their food is very nice, it comes in all shapes and sizes but it is all very rich chocolate etc. It is a nice shop to buy people presents but you might be tempted to eat some.

Whew, so it's not just me. A friend brought me a box from her London trip, and I was excited to get some "good, English chocolate." Until I tried to eat them...not very good. And like you said--I checked the date and they were nowhere near expired, but some tasted old.
