    Good Points: Great view, good size, lovely pool, quiet location, but close enough to walk in to town (15 mins). Great beaches.


    Bad Points: Felt quite pestered by the owners who came several times during the week. A lot of the crockery was chipped. Basic kitchen utensils missing which made cooking an adventure. All the glasses were plastic and thought some of these were ready for the bin. Despite being listed as having a washing machine, there was none on arrival (pain for those of us who'd not brought tons of clothes. Would be major problem if you had kids). The lengthy induction to the house was not welcome after being up since 3am.


    General comments: The Moraira Villa is the owners' home and they have de-camped to another property in Calpe while they rent out their home over the summer. I think it's been hard for the owners to accept that they are making their home a commercial investment and consequently are a little too precious and over-bearing which I think was wrong given the rental price, especially when you want to relax on holiday.

    Apart from the obvious list of 'do nots' the owners visited the villa two or three times during the week we were there and although they said they were coming to carry out maintenance of the pool and gardens, I did feel we were being inspected to make sure we weren't wrecking their home. It would have been better to have come early in the morning to avoid disturbing visitors.

    The main niggle during the week was that the villa was advertised as having a washing machine and when we re-checked on the internet during the week it was indeed listed as having one. To cut a long story short, the owners had stored their belongings in the garage and the 2 washing machines were in there and were therefore reluctant to give us access. I thought it was a bit mean and unnecessary that the owner blamed the lack of washing machine in the kitchen on his wife! Eventually, it was agreed that they would give us a fresh set of towels and wash a set. This would have been an end to it if later on in the week they hadn't knocked on and asked why we'd not used the towels yet!

    Maybe once the owners have relaxed a bit they'll be less overbearing. I think we might have been the first visitors - hopefully they'll calm down a bit. Then I'd give it a much higher review.

    We were looking for a villa which did not feel like a holiday let! We found it in villa Algemesi, www.villasofluxury.com. It was a true home from home. Our welcome pack was very generous and full of lovely local produce to start our stay off. We had excellent support from the local villa rental staff although everything went so smoothly we did not really need them but they ensured all the maid and cleaning service was done to a very high standard. Moraira is a hidden gem along this coast. ...

    If like me you have trawled through hundreds of websites, found a villa, the availability page shows available, you phone to book and are told the availability page is not up-to-date, and the villa is booked... argh !!!!
