“Worst online shopping site”

Very customer unfriendly site - no order reference number, no order status or tracking. My case, I never got items I ordered and had to deal with such unhelpful customer service for number of times to get refund which took a while.I regret giving my personal details to this site, it feels so unsafe. When things go wrong you will need to call the worst customer service- not worth it. Retail staff are usually pleasant and I've had no bad experience to date but Next online shopping - BIG LET DOWN! We had the terrible misfortune of buying from these guys recently. Firstly as others have complained they will set you up a credit account still without stating the APR clearly as they are legally required to do so, nor making it clear they are giving you credit. I ordered 3 items on 18th March for delivery on 19th but they didn't turn up. I called that evening at around 7pm and was told the courier "had car issues" so they couldn't deliver. Surely if the courier can't fulfill the delivery they should notify the customer, I waited in all day for this order and specifically required it on 19th. I have been a loyal customer of next for many years and recently I have used their home delivery service and it has been poor. The first time I opted for a specific delivery date on a Saturday giving over a week for delivery however my items did not turn up and were postponed for 5 days. I ordered my sofa on 6th November and was advised delivery by 18th December but guaranteed before Xmas. I arranged for my old soda to be collected on 17th December (after checking with next that delivery was going to be as promised). So far I have spoken to over a dozen people at Next, all unhelpful and providing different information. Originally I was told by one of them that I would be refunded, clearly a lie. I have now also received a letter confirming that although I advised the item had not been delivered, their records show it has (I never advised this, their own store did it). This exact same thing has happened to me too. I ordered 3 Coats delivered to store and only 2 arrived. Shop assistant called customer services and they said I'd get a refund but then they sent me a disgraceful letter saying that as far as they were concerned all three coats were packed and they were not willing to accept the fact that I hadn't received it. Basically calling me a thief. I got the store manager to call them back to explain and they wouldn't even take their word for it. I am left with a £95 bill for a coat I never received!! I am livid and the letter they sent out is absolutely disgusting!!

Better warn all the people who want to order from the US website, your package may be stopped by Fedex and asked to provide your SSN and other information before it can be sent to you. It happened to me and I called NEXT to ask for a return because I don't want to give out my SSN for an order. Well, the agent told me when it is in US, it's my own business and out of control. you ordered something from outside the US that had to travel through customs in the year 2012.... what made you think you might not have to give out personal info for identification purposes. I personally have ordered from Next Direct dozens of times and even had to talk to a rep, once about an accidental duplicate order and another time about a return/exchange (I even had to talk to a supervisor) and have only had positive experiences with them. I have never been asked for my SSN but understand that I might have to provide it should I be asked (the custom forms that FedEx has to return are Government Forms & just like Banks, they sometimes are required by law to obtain customer's personal info on behalf of the US government.

So far, the quality of their clothes are excellent - and this is from a mom that has only bought Gymboree, Gap or Janie & Jack for my almost 5 year old until now. The price, especially for the quality, is remarkable - especially when you take into account that Next pays for my International shipping and custom/import taxes... I've never had Gymbo, JJ or Gap do that! And if that isn't enough, last month I placed a Gap and Gymboree order online and then the following day placed a Next order. I got my Next order 2 days before my "expedited" Gymbo order from Cali (that I paid $10 to ship) and a whopping SEVEN days before my Gap order (that only traveled from Ohio to Michigan!). In fact, I had the Next order in my had before either of the other 2 stores even filled my orders! Now THAT is real customer service:)

I agree with you. I have shopped there for years and been loving their clothes and customer service. That's why I was so dissappointed this time.

When I made the call I just thought it would be another good experience with their customer service, till the person was yelling at me before I could even finish. And I was speaking politely too. And after that I sent several emails with no reply. Till last week a lady called me to apologize after I had to dispell my credit card.

I was very sad, it was more like to be disppointed by someone you trusted. I WAS actually you. I guess they lose the track a little when more people start to like them.

It was sad when one person ruined it all. But I don't want to shop again and want to wish you GOOD LUCK!

I have used the delivery service a few times and when it does work it's great - however if there are any problems, phoning next is a total waste of time. The customer service of this company is unbelievably bad. For a start, you can't email them, just send them a letter or phone them on a premium rate number. Next really has some nice British style clothes that I love. I have ordered several times and only encountered a problem once when they shipped me someone else's order and packing slip! I will not use NEXT Directory for home delivery any more until they ditch Hermes as their courier. Hermes is one of the worse courier companies in the country. Every single item I've ordered has been dispatched by Next super-quick, every item has been in stock and the right size. The PROBLEM is that ALL home delivery orders are sent via the courier Hermes. I have used Next quite a lot recently, and my biggest problem is that they make you set up a Credit account, rather than allowing you just to buy the products outright. Then, when you try and view your statements online, they are completely confusing and difficult to find. It is also difficult to work out how much money you need to pay. Confusing online shopping experience where you are immediately set up for an account and no option to deliver to store where most shops allow you to do free of charge

Phoned to cancel order and was told it would be. Turned up a few days later and left outside my front door. Customer Services incredibly unhelpful, wouldn't refund delivery charge and told me I should have read T&Cs and there was no record of me phoning to cancel.

My complaint regards the Next Directory call centre staff. The retail staff are excellent and very helpful, but this could not be said for the call centre. You might as well be talking to a computer for all the help they give you, they don't listen to what you're saying, can't speak proper English and are almost impossible to understand (Next take note!!) Next Directory deliveries - avoid like the plague unless you've got a few months to spare! I ordered a sideboard in November for delivery within 5 days. When I placed the order, it said 4 weeks. Fair enough, I wanted it before Christmas so that shouldn't have been a problem. I was told the sideboards were in the warehouse on 14 December. On 16 December, I was contacted and offered a delivery date for today (23rd). I've just called asking where it is, and been told it's not on the van! ... (read more)

Awful, awful, awful. Do not touch this company. I have been waiting for my sofa for the past 4 months... and still waiting. It took 6 weeks to make it, fine. They then tried to deliver it, but sofa did not fit in the lift, they could not lift it up the stairs as the delivery man bought with him a lady who could barely lift the sofa horizontally. They promised to rearrange a 4 man delivery. They then lost the sofa and after more than a week of 'looking for it' they said it would have to be... (read more)
