I bought my Jinlun 125-11 in 2008 to combat the petrol prices, surposed to get 110 mpg? more like 70 but I guess thats still better than 24 in the car, speed 70 mph? rubbish you are pushed to get 50 flat out down hill wind in your back and as for slugish! it would not pull the skin off a rice pudding so dont expect to leave anyone eating exhurst fumes at the traffic lights. Within weeks of ownership the crome started to rust and the frame, the polished alloy started to pit and crack all in all quality pretty much rubbish but what can you really expect at the price they go for. I have to say though in its defence touch wood to date it has never let me down machanically (YET)

I ride a 06 Bonneville and a 72 Daytona, have been on 2 wheels for 30+ years and am an aircraft engineer by trade. I thought I'd take a punt on a JL125Y to use on the green lanes. It's OK. I stripped off the girly tank/false radiator plastic and ran it in. Bit gutless, but I'm used to bigger bikes. The original tyres were lethal on tarmac. Steering was like a thrupenny bit [ask your dad!] so I dumped the rubber, etch primed the insides of the rims and fitted Bridgestone trailwings. I waxoiled the whole thing to keep the rust at bay. Some of the fittings are weak and need beefing up, but hey, I can do that. The upside down forks bottomed on every bump, so I started adding 10cc's of 15-40 SAE. After adding 150cc's to each leg the bumping stopped and the fork action was nice. The front brake is OK. The rear needs weight on the wheel to be effective. The rear brake pedal cylinder needs a guard or repositioning, to stop a tree stump knocking it off. Otherwise, a good little tool to play with. A few mod's, a bit of thought and it will turn into a nice little motorcycle. I might even come up with a suspension lowering mod, or make it a twinshock instead.

The Jinlun 125 - 11 is my 1st ever bike: owned it from 8mths old to 18mths old. A dog before being run-in (min. umpteen hundred kms), but subsequently a dream. What I wasn't expecting from such a VERY inexpensive Chinese bike was that it turned out to be exceptionally faithful. Constantly getting looks & attention, with lots of people of ALL ages asking about it. Yes - about it looking more like a 600/750cc. Very practical. I passed my test on it, stress-free. Supremely comfy ride & the most pleasing engine note guaranteed that ANY trip on it was always a sheer joy. Highly impressed with helpful on-line Jinlun Owners' Club. I'd definitely recommend one - but ONLY IF you're sure you'll be able to put a lot of effort into keeping this cruiser lubed, waxed, MAINTAINED, polished, etc.

I've had my black and white jinny 125-11 for about 8 months, from new. i've done about 2,500km on it, mainly commuting to work and back. i had a few little problems early on whilst running the engine in, ie, loosening nuts, automatic side stand cut out clicking in while i was riding along, and the bracket mounting the spot light broke due to excessive vibration ( bumpy roads!) once she was run in though and the nuts held with a dab of superglue, i have nothing but praise for the bike. it's fun to ride, a real head turner and does what you would expect of a cheap 125. i would suggest you add a glug of silkolene pro fst to each tankfull of fuel to prevent carb icing which can be a problem in our winter climate.

A great bike, as long as you ask for help from a Jinlun Owners Forum. They do have a few niggles but for 1000 you cant complain. I've now done 1500 miles with no problems, because I listened to advice and acted upon it.

Make sure you check your Jinlun 125 bolts are tight before you go on to the road
