    Good Points: Very little, at least not worth mentioning.


    Bad Points: Old, cramped, security chaos, some incompetent staff.


    General comments: I pretty much agree with the other reviewer when it comes to New York JFK airport, including the take off issue, which to me seems like a giant lottery rather than a system!

    Old, low ceiling corridors and strange procedure to get into the security area. I'm still not sure whether the staff operating that particular area of the airport at that particular time were completely aware themselves of what the were supposed to do. If they did, they did a poor job of communicating that to the growing number of passengers stopped for no apparent reason in the aforementioned corridors.We were blessed to be given preferential treatment due to travelling with our 6 month old baby in the security hall. Judging from the line/queue and the extensive US procedure required we would have had to wait at least 2-3 hours. That would have meant we would have missed our connection to LA. Actual Law Enforcement/Border Control staff are prompt and professional as always, which is a good and welcome change from their UK colleagues and most of the other airport staff at JFK.I'm afraid to say however, that's the only plus point for JFK. I do not recommend using JFK and will try and avoid this airport in future. Chicago O'Hare where we went the last time was miles better!

    New York JFK Airport tops the list of bad things I have seen over the years. As an international arrival you are forced to walk thrugh several staircases down to the imigration and customs area; you feel like stepping back into the bad version of the 50th.

    Upstairs in the gate area it is not much better. Everything is old, cramped and worn out.

    The iceing on the cake is the more than one hour wait in line on the taxi way for take off.
