I maybe should have given a review a few years back I was on the hunt for a dog at the time and thought a rescue would be ideal giving a new lease of life for an abandoned dog would be a good thing to do. Upon visiting the kennels I was mortified at the cleanliness of the centre the boarding area maybe cleaner but I entered the rehoming around midday and have never smelled anything so vile. Each kennel was saturated with urine so badly it had run into the walk aisle each cage was covered with dog feaces and the smell .. its something i cannot forget . . pure ammonia this wasnt a one day old smell. The dogs seemed depressed and very few had fresh water in their bowls I was horrified and brought my concerns to the very young girl who was the only person on sight to which she replied i'll be seeing to them very soon. The following day I asked my mother to accompany me in her car and for her to check the place out . . no change whatsoever and this was 3pm the following day. I was devastated and even considered contacting the rspca Approx 6 months ago my mother was looking for a resuce dog and dared to visit low fallowfield . . . seems standards had not changed The boarding maybe better than the resuce area but I would NEVER go again it left me heartbroken for those poor creatures

I have used fallowfield kennels for several years, the staff are very pleasant, and always remenber your dogs name when booking, they always wash my dogs bed, and deduct price for taking own food,
my dog is always pleased to see the staff. and always comes home fit & well.
I highly recommend these kennels,

i recently boarded my two dogs at Low Fallowfield farm, one of which was really really nervous with people, and can be a bit snappy at times, this stems from her traumatic past as she was a rescue dog, so i was a little nervous myself leaving her at the kennels, but i knew she was with my other dog and that she would be fine, i provided my own food for my dogs as they are fussy eaters, and the staff had no problems with this at all, and even gave me a discount for this which i never expected so i was rather happy with that, on collection of my dogs i was overwhelmed at how happy they looked as they were actually out walking when i came to pick them up and they looked so comfortable with the girls that were walking them jumping around and getting lots of fuss which they love, i was greeted by my dogs at the end of their walk after i had payed the bill and they were so happy to see me, however when i took the leads form the girls the dogs pulled back to go back into kennels instead of the car, they obviously had a great time there and enjoyed it, they had also had a bath on the morning of the day i picked them up so they were immaculate they are longer haired dogs so probably had dirty paws but i was expecting to bath them myself but the kind staff saved me a job (which is a job and a half) i was fully expecting my little dog (the nervous one) to have refused to eat and maybe even lost weight, but she had actually put a few pounds on which i so happy about,i will most definitely use Low Fallowfield farm kennels again and will reccommend them to all my friends and family, 10 out of 10 for customer service and friendliness of the staff.

fallowfield is a top rate kennels I have used them for several years now and cannot fault them. My dog is a very fussy eaterand they take the cost of the food I supply for her stay off the actual bill. They also actually remember your pet when you book them in yes she came back a bit smelly but that was to be expected but the most important thing she was happy as her favourite perfume anyway is eau du death so she was very happy smelling like that. I use the pick up service and that is excellent to. the lady who picks her up is really nice to.. highly recommend

I have just had my 2 dogs in low followfield farm kennels for 2 days and nights and was impressed not only with the friendliness of the staff but with the amount of staff that are there. When i dropped my dogs off and picked them up i witnessed the dogs being walked. I took plenty of treats, toys and some food for my youngest puppy as i knew she would be off her food a little bit. On my return i was offered a discount on my bill because i had brought her food with her! I didnt take the discount mainly because i was shocked to be offered it and also i was just more happy that my dogs looked happy and had been well looked after in my absence. I would certainly recommend Low Fallowfield Kennels and will certainly use them again.

Excellent. The good points about this riding school is that you learn a lot and it is really fun. You do chores which i think is a good idea because it can get you prepared for if you ever get a horse of your own and you get to learn the responsibility of having a horse. The price is also very good.

In September last year me and my partner rehomed a saluki cross greyhound for the kennels here i would like to say that Sly is in fantastic condition and if he not been brought to you to be rehomed i don't think our lives would be filled with such joy. Sly has become more sociable around people and has gained almost all of his confidence back i have never had a dog that so much love to give. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Low Fallow Field Farm for giving us the chance to give this fantastic dog a loving and much deserved new home.

When my mum split up with my dad 2 years ago, we had a 2 month old puppy. She was a blue staffie named Purdy. My mum had to get a job, so we gave her to a friend. They dumped her. She has been sent to Low Fallowfield Farm kennels 5 times now. But then they rang us 2 weeks ago because our chip was in her. They didn't come for her so we got her back a week later. The kennels seem to treat them as their own. They play with them all the time. The lady who looked after Purdy was lovely, and I am so grateful.

I have used the Low Fallowfield Farm kennels in County Durham for the last 15 years, and I have found them to be very caring and helpful.

I have had two German Pointers over the last 15 years, and I have used the kennels for every holiday break, and on one occasion I had to use the kennels every weekend for 2 years due to work commitments. They looked after my dogs as if they were their own.

“Having placed our Japanese Akita with this Kennel, as...”

☆☆☆☆☆

written by brianjmcgrath on 06/08/2005

Having placed our Japanese Akita with this Kennel, as our ususal Boarding Kennels were full for our forthcoming week long family holiday, it is a decision we live to regret.
On the day we dropped her off, we were somewhat taken aback when asked by a member of staff if half a chicken breast a day was enough for that size dog? That should have been warning enough, but we had nowhere else that had space to take her for that week, and with a great deal of trepadation, we left our dog with them.
We collected the dog the very first morning of our return to be told she was fine. They then produced my dog who greeted us with just a slight tail wag, instead of her usual over enthusiastic boucing around. This was unusual, and the first in a set of clues something was amiss.
We noticed she had blood on her front paws, and the staff commented she had just finished eating a piece of raw chicken, suggesting the blood had come from that. We were somewhat surprised as she does not eat chicken normally.
They then handed us back three antibiotic tablets from a five day course she had been on, when she went in there for a bowel infection she had been receiving treatment for.
The staff had been informed of the dosage and frequency, when we dropped her off.
There should have been no tablets left, as it was a 2 tablet a day course over 5 days.
We were just glad to get her back, and when we got her home it was clear she was not feeling herself. She was dirty and ungroomed, and looked very sorry for herself. Nothing like the dog we handed over.
She gave out a series of snorts and blood gushed down her nose and onto our footware and her paws.
This accounted for the "chicken blood" on her paws when we had picked her up.
She looked thinner, and her ears were flat on her head instead of pointing upright as they normally do.

She immediately drank two bowls of water when she came into the house, and wolfed down some food, something she never does.

We got an emergency appointment to see our vet, who noted she had picked up a severe infection of kennel cough, and when she weighed her, to give more antibiotics, she noted the dog had lost 2.5kgs in weight since she had weighed her the week we placed her in these kennels.

It was noted that the dog had not been given the 2 tablets a day for 5 days as insructed, when we left her on day one.

The bowel infection therefore, had not been fully treated by the course of antibiotics given for that purpose, (you will recall we were given 3 tablets back, with a comment that she had not had today's dose). This course should have been completed days before we collected her!!
In one week my dog had lost almost 5 pounds in weight, was bleeding heavily from the nose from a severe infection of kennel cough, that should have been noticeable to any suitably trained staff member. She was filthy, and her coat was dull.
I personally will never use or recommend these kennels to anyone, and if you do use them it is at your own peril. A definite NO....

Oschar's Response to brianjmcgrath's Review

Written on: 23/07/2009

In reply to brianjmcgraths review. It sounded very one sided to me. I have never put a dog in low fallowfield and his review would not in all honesty put me off for a number of reasons. If i ever put my dogs in kennels i would take their own food so that they wouldnt be given food that they dont normally eat! Unless your dog is actually bathed it is always going to look a bit scruffy at the end of the day they are in a kennel with concrete floor for cleaning purposes and do dirty and jump in it, it carnt be helped its a fact of life! Any dog that goes away from home with something as nasty as a bowel infection or the like is obviously not going to be looking or feeling its best. I personally wouldnt have put my dogs in kennels in them circumstances at all.
