Good Points: Central location, pleasant staff, overall quality
Bad Points: No-smoking area in breakfast room could be bigger
General comments: This excellent modern hotel is situated in a quiet-ish sidestreet a short walk from the Hauptbahnhof and the Cathedral. The rooms are large by modern hotel standards, well furnished and spotlessly clean although perhaps a touch impersonal. Non-smoking rooms are available. The predominantly young staff are pleasant and efficient. I didn't use the restaurant so I can't comment but given the general standard of the hotel it would be surprising if it wasn't good. The buffet breakfast was sumptuous. Guests have free use of the neighbouring health club which includes a swimming pool and a fully equipped gym. I obtained a substantial discount on the hotel's normal tariff by booking through the website of the airline Germanwings with whom I flew to Cologne. Anyone else who does this should be aware that the hotel requires you to produce your Germanwings boarding pass when checking in so don't throw it away when you get off the plane otherwise you'll have to pay the full price.
