I went to Lorenzo's this Saturday just gone and myself and friends had a wonderful time. The food was lovely and the staff (even though the girl was new) was really acomidating. My friend wanted a soup that was not on the menu, and Lorenzo said no problem and made it for us, we were greted with a smile and a menu, with the offer of drinks straight away, and even tho busy our order was taken fairly quickly. We did have to wait a little while for our mains but our starters came quick enough... (read more)

We enjoyed fantastic authentic food last night. We travel from Delph to this restaurant and have loved the food every time. There is a wide choice of meals from their new menu that keep us coming back. We have found the lamb dishes are exceptional as the food is cooked to order. The place is intimate with candles on the tables and nice music. The staff are lovely. This is one of the best Italian restaurants I have been to (and I have been to Italy!). If you like good food I recommend San... (read more)

This is the second time here. The food was amazing. I had the house canneloni absolutely superb. My husband had the home made tuscan soup served with pasta and roast chicken. Again superb. They do a midweek deal (Tues, Wed,Thur) Any pasta or pizza and a bottle of peroni or glass of house wine 8.90. What a deal! We will be going lots more. Thanks Lorenzo! (read more)

I love this restaurant - whatever the occasion it just seems to fit the need. The staff are extremely friendly and the food is authentic. This is my favourite place to eat above all others. Its simple atmosphere gives a relaxed and friendly environment in which to enjoy well cooked and most enjoyable food. The Pizzas are made on the premises in front of your very eyes. I have eaten there so many times already and never had a bad meal. Nothing is too much trouble and would thoroughly... (read more)

San Lorenzo is my favourite restaurant, anywhere. I'm always upset and confused by the reviews, but can see how they might happen. We love the restaurant, but on taking my traditionalist grandparents we heard nothing but complaints about slow service and unorthodox cooking. They miss the point that San Lorenzo serves ACTUAL Italian dishes, made fresh by staff who care about the food. Lorenzo is a wonderful chef and a fantastic man who will happily talk to his customers about the food or... (read more)

Went to San Lorenzo in Mossley for the second time, we should have lerned after the first time, but I am all for local restaurants and try to support them when we can. The last time we went I had steak strips in pasta with a pepper sauce, I spent most of the meal picking out about 150 rock hard whole peppercorns. we let the staff know about this but were told, "Thats the way the chef does it, I will let him know but he will take no notice" the food was Ok but we let it go.
So to last night,...

We have been going to this family run restaurant for nine years and find the reviews very interesting! Over the years it has become a favourite with both ourselves and our children due to the fantastic food and the warm, friendly atmosphere. We enjoy the variety in the menu and the service is excellent.

Quite simply the best Italian restaurant I have been in in England. A genuine taste of Italy with lots original Italian dishes which are not found in 'English' Italian restaurants. The service was excellent and the ambience perfect. I didn't have any chlidren with me but others in the restauarant did and, as you would expect with Italians, they were welcomed and made to feel part of the evening. There's definitely something for everyone here. if you want an evening which is different, with a... (read more)

I came and had a meal with a group of friends last week and would just like to say what a good evening was had by all. The food was rustic but absolutely fantastic! The Casey family had a table booked to celebrate my wife's birthday on Friday 2nd July, we have not visited San Lorenzo's for sometime and we where looking forward to it. We arrived and was shown to the table almost immediately, and promptly ordered drinks, they arrived quickly. I have been coming to san Lorenzo's for over 7 years now and have never had a bad meal in all that time but this is the first time I have thought of writing a review to say how much I enjoy the place. It was my mother's birthday and we decided to go to San Lorenzo's, Mossley for the first time. NEVER AGAIN!!
We had to wait 15 minutes before we were even given menus, just sat at the table looking around. We were asked ONCE if we wanted drinks for the whole meal....I had to keep asking for more....and then they took 20 minutes to get there.

What a shame about this restaurant. The chef obviously knows his trade , as the food we had here couldnt be faulted for the price, unfortunately the service is absolutely dire. From the minute we walked in it was plain to see that the waitresses didnt have a clue what was going on, and just were not on the ball. We actually had to call somebody over to take our order. San Lorenzo's has fantastically fresh and original authentic italian cuisine. They will also accommodate requests if you can't see something you like. Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The cooking and the service at San Lorenzo's are extremely good. The building is unusual, in fact it is more like a post war pre-fab but there are bits added to the internal decor that make it a cared for pre fab. San Lorenzo's - I tend to get grumpy in restaurants as I object to paying for food that isn't as good as the food I cook myself. No problems here. The building itself is quirky - we lovingly refer to it as "the hut." Wherever we are in Europe we always compare them to Lorenzo's place - it's our yardstick.
This is our comfort restaurant. Excellent home style Italian cooking - Lorenzo & co. know their stuff. The agnello (lamb) dishes are to die for. Really nice fish dishes. Plentiful portions.

My partner and I discovered San Lorenzos in Mossley around six months ago, and we have never had a bad meal there. In fact, we have had nothing short of a great meal there. If we fancy Italian food that feels as though you could be eating at a family run restaurant in rural Italy, this is where we go. Mossley Northern Italian San Lorenzo's has to be our favourite Italian restaurants in the area. The food is excellent - service could be a little quicker in busier times, but that is not really a complaint. All the bread is made in house in front of you, and all dishes are cooked fresh to order and delivered straight to your table. Not too expensive either. Definitely worth a try. (read more)

And even that would be better than this dump deserves.
