My mate is currently aboard the Destiny and having the most horrendous time of his life. Unbelievable sanitation to put up with: no running water in his cabin, faeces in toilets unable to flush, cabins awash with water. Only after threatening to call the harbour authorities following a severe storm causing the above problems did the captain agree to meeting with 250 passengers - some of whom were in tears, elderly and disabled.
In short nothing has been resolved for these passengers to their complaints and one couple approached my friend in tears asking him what to do and are now looking to fly back to the UK 4 days before the end of their holiday. Beware.
This is not a scare story but actually occuring as I write.

The thomson Destiny cruise was the best holiday i ever had.Im 33 years old and i didnt know wether it would suit my age group or not,but it had something for everyone. The food was fantastic ,the staff were so friendly wand the entertainment was FAB.I would recommend this cruise to anyone. We sailed the Med in soaring tempetures but because you are in the middle of the ocean there is always a beautiful sea breeze.T0 be honest there is nothing negative i could say,it was the perfect holiday.- Read Guest's review (93 words)

The Thomson Destiny ship looked it's age but the staff were very nice and the food was acceptable. The entertainment was enjoyable.
The real problem occurred in the cabin which was very cramped. The noise and vibrations from the engine and generators were a nightmare. The whole cabin shook and rattled. I stuffed towels and blankets all over the cabin to stop the noise. I also used ear plugs. However, even this was not enough to stop the alternating vibrations from the engine and the generators. ...- Read Guest's review (94 words)

Been on the thomson destiny from 20-27 August 2009. I could not fault anything on board, the staff were very helpful, friendly and polite. Great food and entertainment and would definitely recommend an all inclusive package. This was our first cruise and next year we are booking for 2 weeks.

The Thomson Destiny seemed to be a very old ship with well worn small cabins, not luxury as we were promised. Ship has no stablizers so rough seas can be problem. Food ok but not special, staff helpfull and friendly, other passengers very nice, best part of the holiday. Trips off ship very expensive. Would cruise with Thomson Cruises again but on bigger better ship.- Read Guest's review (65 words)

This was our first cruise with Thomson Cruises and won't be the last. There really isn't much to find fault with. Firstly the staff are professional and really go out on a limb to make your stay first class. We took the drinks package and this worked out to be a good move. Even if you only took two or three drinks each per day you could probably get a better deal going inclusive. We found the tours expensive so opted to do our own thing and enjoyed the freedom of doing so. Food is excellent and ...- Read Guest's review (143 words)

i honestly cant see why people are writing bad reviews about the thomson destiny, its a lovely ship, with lovely members of staff and brilliant shows. Its not old looking and i have constantly seen the staff polishing and cleaning the ship throughout the day and they were all very friendly. so if your thinkng about going on the thomson destiny, go for it! because i really cant belive that i went on the same ship as the people that moan about it! we are desperate to go again this year. And the ca ...- Read Guest's review (185 words)

Having sailed on Thompson Destiny for several years, I can honestly say that the value for money on these cruises is excellent. I have never had a meal that wasn't first class, and compared to other cruise lines the staff onboard are hard to beat on their first class service.- Read Guest's review (70 words)

We have sailed on this ship 7 times ( twice as the Sunbird). It is starting to look its age when docked alongside ships from other cruise companies. All the staff work extreemly hard to provide a service. This time we found that the quallity of the food was not as good as on all other times we have sailed. The midnight buffet or Chocoholic night has been dropped.
The show team worked hard to produce some very good shows.
The itinery was change the night before going to Guadeloupe due to civil un ...- Read tonyp's review (189 words)

Took the Carribean Gems cruise from Dec08/Jan09. The ship came from England and the buffet menu seemed geared towards the English. The quality of the food on the buffet was poor. A lot of greasy/fatty meats and overly sweet deserts. We stuck to the fresh fruits and veggies whenever they were available. Registered our 8 and 10 year old boys in the KidZone but the activities they offered were sporadic. The Sports deck isn't always open and the ping pong equipment, darts and basketball are al ...- Read Guest's review (307 words)

Dec 2008: It was my first cruise and my experience was positive on the whole. Some hardy cruisers compared the experience with Butlins and I can see what they meant: always a tedious quiz threatened when there was a lull, and a general downmarket feel about the clientele. It's horses for courses.
The passengers were mainly quite elderly, evidenced by the number of walking sticks. As a consequence, the dinner conversation would veer from "I can't be doing with spicy food" to "What on earth is t ...- Read ivydene's review (236 words)
