“Burglary in florida”

Please, please do not use this company. We were burgled whilst on holiday in florida and it took a year for top dog to pay out ( and even then it was the minimum amount ) They used every means possible to avoid paying.

“Good Result”

A claim for cancelled holiday was treated quickly - so long as you don't try to email anything. Always sent paperwork by registered post and payment was made. Would recommend especially as cost of insurance was reasonable.

“Very Poor Service”

I would not recommend this company. I'm trying to take out a claim for a lost camera and it isn't going well. They received the claim on 28th October. Told it would take 15 days for it to be looked at! 3 phone calls later, all advisors very polite and still no further forward! I have had to log a complaint today so will be going to the FCA in 8 weeks if no resolution. I would welcome a phone call from the complaints team, my number is on file but was told this was not possible. On the plus side everyone is very nice that you speak to, but the company just not deliver. Should have read reviews before purchase, learn by my mistake!

“Gadget cover what a waste of money!!”

I took premium insurance out with top dog insurance and because I knew my 16 year old son and 20 year old daughter were taking there iPhones and laptop, I thought I better take the extra gadget cover(Joke). My son put a working phone his pocket and when he pulled it out to use it the LCD screen had got a black dot on it the size of a 5 pence.Looks like the phone had been accidentally damaged in his pocket. Rang topdog and told the truth about what had happened,i will just have to check the policy(10 mins later) sorry your not covered for that.What! was my response,what iam I covered for, oh you are covered for loss or stolen and accidental damage was the reply.Well doesn't that come under accidental damage I asked,No! Was the reply. So I asked if I would have smashed it on the floor would that have been covered, he said yes in a smug voice. I was fuming.I will never use topdog again and neither will any one I know, and there are 500 people were I work and I've posted on all the notice boards and sent emails to all the staff never to use topdog. This could have been so different topdog.

“they don't want to pay out!!!”

I have had a platinum the most expensive insurance and fell on holiday breaking two ribs. Before I went on holiday I had been to see the doctor because I had pain in my shoulder and neck and when I fell and cracked the ribs this caused me to have severe pain in the neck and shoulder as well as the pain from the ribs. The doctor had to give me injections for the pain and I have tried to get the cost back. Because I had hurt myself and consulted the doctor before I went they are saying it is a pre existing illness. However they won't take on board that I would not have seen the doctor unless I had fallen and done more damage. It is a case of simply not wanting to pay out. I only went for pain killers because of the fall! Do not take out top dog insurance. It is anything but Top dog!!!

“Top Dog rip off”

I bought an annual policy declaring that I took over two tablets for high blood pressure. My medication was altered however my declaration remained the same ie over two tablets for high blood pressure. I paid £52.87 for the policy plus extra for a medical declaration. I phoned this company to advise the change so that the policy would not be invalidated. They are now asking for an extra £70 plus. This is obscene.

We are sorry that you are unhappy about the premium that has been quoted to you.To obtain cover for a pre-existing medical conditions travel insurers request that a medical declaration is carried out and also if there are any changes to a medical condition then this is disclosed. When there is a change with a medical condition many insurers may consider it an increase in the risk, which they quantify from statistics of previous claims of such instances, this may mean that to continue to offer cover they will need to charge an additional amount to cover the increased risk as they see it, it is important to note a customer can opt to exclude the condition from cover rather than pay the additional premium. We understand in your case that you do not feel either offer is acceptable to you and that upon speaking to a member of our management team you have been offered the option of a pro-rata refund. Please contact our customer service team to advise how you would like us to proceed. We apologise that we may not have been able to fully meet your expectations on this occasion.

“THE most inefficient Company in the Travel Insurance...”

Long Long Story. But in a nutshell. I had an serious accident in Thailand in January. Was left totally high and dry by this company, seriously injured for over a week. Top dog refused the necessary hospital treatment. I Was promised medical repatriation and business class seats for myself and wife.Contact then stopped leaving me in a very precarious situation. Still recovering and still in lots of pain due to their inefficiency. They settled my claim and admitted liability by giving me £1,000 compensation to shut me up. I am very reasonable and would have talked sensible compensation, but I am now forced to go through the Financial Ombudsman, and a National No Win No Fee Lawyer. I have written to Customer Services Twice. Guess What. NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OR REPLY Being a pensioner the stress is enormous. They just DO NOT CARE . MY ADVICE IS. DO NOT PURCHASE INSURANCE THROUGH THIS COMPANY. THEY AND THERE UNDERWRITERS JUST DO NOT CARE. LEN Southport

“£300 cancellation excess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

On a 4 night, £336 last minute break in Europe, I chose this insurance company. The flight was cancelled as our party boarded the plane. When I made a claim I was astonished that there was a £300.00 excess was not mentioned or declared in the 2 documents that they emailed. I found it later, as I tried to claim as a (blue read here) within a sentence of the original thank you mail. Thanks Top Dog Insurance, for the £36.00 refund offered. As a company, surely the cost of my break would black-mark the insurance cover that you recommended. But I now realise that this company aren't interested in their clients as a priority.Hopefully people will read this and choose wisely. Happy travelling in my future, but not with this company!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Travel insurance ”

I would not recommend this company as they make all sorts of excuses when following up a simple claim for around £160.I have sent e mails and telephoned and all to no avail.This claim has been going on for over 5 weeks and anytime I ring I am unable to talk to the member of staff dealing with the claim,usual excuses such as the person you want to speak to is off for a few days or she is too busy dealing with other claims, also leave me your number and she will ring you to morrow.Furthermore if you want to speak to the manager you will never get through.Altogether a very poor customer service and certainly I would not be using this company in the future.

“Very Good Service”

My husband and I recently had to cancel a trip by train to Italy due to an eye injury. Apart from needing a reminder to send me a claim form, the service that we received from TopDog was very good. “Excellent”

I was violently mugged whilst travelling and lost hundreds of pounds worth of belongings. In my distress I forgot to add absolutely everything that was stolen in my police report and presumed I would therefore not be able to claim for those items/money. However, TopDog believed me and they paid me in full. I was so grateful to them and relieved it was finally over. You do have to provide evidence such as receipts but I submitted a couple of bank statements and they were fine. They were kind and considerate and I only have good things to say about them. I will be a customer from now on.

Insured claimfree with DogCrap (sorry topdog)for many years until a close family member died suddenly (Mar 2014) and I claimed for cancellation. Now Oct'14 and still they are asking the same banal questions from different individuals with no hint of settlement. Even contacted Citycorp (their underwriters) who appear to have the identical board of directors, so no hope there then! Look it up for yourself & draw your own conclusions

All claims are handled by the insurers and whilst we do not get involved with these, we will always help where we can to try to resolve any issues. The claims handlers do need to complete enquiries and examine relevant documentation before they agree to accept a claim. They also have processes in place if you are unhappy with the way a claim has been dealt with. “not paying out ”

In Cyprus we had our bag stollen and reported it to the police, we had iPad, headphones inside this bag and cash. We claimed for this loss only to be told to jump through hoops and threats of paying £50 excess for each item, they did everything they could to delay or put me off claiming, they lost my emails and blamed head office, I have backed everything off and think this company trying to drain in as much as possible off us, the paying public, only to never honor the claims. I have now lost count how many calls I have made to them, I will go down to their main office if they continue to not pay up. Do not use this poorly run company...

“Denied Policy Existed”

When my partner took ill in Cyprus and got rushed into hospital Top Dog denied that we had taken out a policy with them. Non of the paperwork they had sent us had any policy number or names of my family on it. It took a hospital administrator hours on the phone to get them to pay up. Not what you need when a loved one is in hospital.

“Don't use them!”

We have used Top Dog before and were quite happy as we didn't have to pay too much. Unfortunately that was a big mistake. I had an accident on holiday in Spain over a month ago. We had to pay upfront and then claim back. They didn't send us reply paid envelopes so every time we had to send them something we had to provide the envelope and stamp. We even had to prove we went away and send a copy of our policy!!. Today we received a pathetic amount back. an insult, less than the cost of the taxis we had to use to go to hospital! We will never use them again.

“Criminal and minimal payouts, go elsewhere and pay the...”

I have never claimed on insurance for years and years and when I damaged an item that cost a lot of money not too many years ago I was given in final payment an hilarious and scandalous amount. This company is ripping us off. Go with a reputable company because it's worth it in the long run. These types of firms should be shut down.

It is important to note that baggage claims are often subject to deductions by the Insurers for wear and tear and depreciation rather than ‘new-for-old’. There may also be a limit on the amount that can be paid for a specific item, particularly if it is classed as a Valuable. All these definitions and terms are laid out in the policy wording and would have been available prior to policy purchase. On resolution of your claim, you should also have been provided with details of how to make a complaint to the claims handler if you were unsatisfied with how the claim had been settled.

Loved the pun Blazer666 it's absolutely hilarious! I bet you're the office comedian eh!
It wasn't a 'case' (love it!) or baggage actually, it was an expensive essential item which about three yrs ago cost me nearly £500. I've had to replace this item and it's cost me over £500. The rogues, TOPDOG sent me a cheque for £100.
Read the policy very small print and yes that's where these rogue companies hide the cons.

“Friendly service, quick payout.”

I am in my second year with Top Dog silver yearly holiday insurance. We had three holidays booked this year which were booked well in advance last year. Unfortunately due to my wife having an unexpected serious operation, which will take many months for her to fully recover we have to cancel all these holidays. I contacted Top Dog holiday insurance to claim for the money lost to the holiday companies. I was then sent the claim forms to be completed by myself and one by our Doctor. These were returned and within two weeks I received a cheque for each holiday for money lost to the holiday companies. Obviously they were minus the excess which was expected. Overhaul I am completely satisfied with the friendly service and professionalism of this company. Thank you Top Dog.

“pay the extra and use a profesional company”

A very poor insurance company. when searching for insurance you ,may notice that for a few extra pounds you can change/increase your cover. I would spend extra money to not use top dog insurance I was one of the passengers stranded at gatwick airport over Christmas. They take there time paying out and try to delay things by sending letters asking for other things. to delay payment. in my party of 7 people traveling top dog is the one that has still not paid out the other while the other members got there payments 2 months ago with different insurance companies. (3 months since claim) Last thing you need to worry about is insurance when your on holiday. so stay away from TopDog insurance i even had the premium service.
