Good Points: Woodsy, earthy musk
Bad Points: Perhaps a little too masculine or unisex for those who prefer gendered scents, larger price does not guarantee better fragrance
General comments: Heliotrope Etro smells better after it has settled for a little while, but the first few moments on the wrist are purely almond, ylang-ylang and tonka bean--more of a room fragrance or a unique unisex/men's cologne. The ylang-ylang doesn't seem to be very complimentary to the other ingredients (which is a disappointment because it's one of my favourite scents). It's very earthy and musky, natural and woodsy...so earthy-musk wearers may find it quite extraordinary, or it might work as light cologne. I would consider suggesting it to a male friend, but even on a man I wouldn't find it that appealing.
When the florals and vanilla begin to come around(half an hour to one hour after applying), Heliotrope softens a little; but I can't really imagine for whom or for what occasion, time of day/year this perfume was created. It's different than what you'd find at your typical department store perfume counter, but it isn't necessarily better because of it.
