    Good Points: Sweet, velvety, a little bit of chocolate


    Bad Points: It's certainly unique and unusual, which may not be what you're looking for.


    General comments: Serge Lutens Datura Noir is a very soft and sweet smelling scent from one of the heaviest hitters in the fragrance world. It smells smooth and rich immediately and yet refrains from being overpowering. If you like Acqua di Parma Iris Nobile, Thierry Mugler Angel, or Calvin Klein's Obsession, this could be for you(especially if you want to be able to say you're wearing something that isn't part of the mass market): it's a near-perfect union of those lovely fragrances without the 'heavy' element of TMA and CKO--a sweet whisper of a perfume; soft and floral enough for spring and summer(even with a hint of coconut or something similar bringing to mind tanning on the beach) with enough velvety-caramel-chocolate appeal to carry you through fall and winter. It lasts a long time without those around you having to create excuses to stop being around you, making it great for days at the office, walks in the park, and nights in front of the fire with someone special.
    If you like to be a little daring in your fragrance choices, but also need something practical, this unique perfume is bold and expressive without running the risk of alienation.
