“CHANGED THE RUBBER?”

Written on: 15/03/2013

i've bought Clarks shoes for years and have just bought another two pairs but suddenly that wonderful cushioned rubber sole has become a hard unforgiving jarring plastic. i've spent a lot of extra money on gel insoles and insole cushioning just to get some comfort. i still like the way their shoes look but if this is the new material i won't go back to them again. “Incorrect price and then denying it.”

Written on: 06/01/2013 by dennisis (9 reviews written)

I picked up one of a pair of sandals in the Dumfries store which were in the sale with a 50% off sticker on them, the same as all the rest. It said "£44.99 - NOW £24.99". I gave the sandal to the assistant and pointed out that the maths was wrong. She hummed as she went to get the other and when she returned she had taken the 50% sticker off and said it was wrong, did I still want them? I said that I would take them but complain to head office. She gave me the receipt and pointed to a web... (read more)

“New shoes from the box disintegrate”

Written on: 16/06/2012 by tomgeorge (1 review written)

I have always worn Clark's shoes since the eighties - when I start a new pair, I buy another pair and store them until needed. This has worked for me for twenty years. My last pair split at the seem with the sole two weeks ago - they looked in good condition apart from the split where the leather upper meets the sole, but I had good wear out of them, so I binned them and got out my "reserve" pair from the wardrobe - looking brand spanking new, straight from the box. Yesterday I put them on... (read more)

“Clarks Star Stride shoes are very dangerous”

Written on: 27/04/2012 by Culmen (1 review written)

After I bought a pair of Clarks Star Stride shoes I fell twice on a wet surface in a very nasty way, one time on the back of my head. The soles are very slippery on wet surfaces. According to my shoemaker the soles consist of some kind of plastic, and he replaced them by real rubber soles, which turned out to be far less slippery indeed. Now I am walking safe, although de bill of my shoemaker was rather high and the Active Air comfort has been affected. So the best advice is: don't buy... (read more)

“Clarks Shoes for Kids - not fit for purpose”

Written on: 17/01/2012 by stevenhutchinson

I bought three sets of shoes for my three children and two of the three pairs are completely worn out after three months. Aren't Clark's ashamed? They used to be a good name but now trade on that good name but supply kids shoes that fall apart or wear out very quickly. Seriously what's the life expectancy of a kids shoe? Short of growing out of them I would have expected a minimum of six to nine months? Am I being unreasonable? (read more)

“Clarks Spy Man GTX Gortex. ”

Written on: 08/01/2011

Clarks Spy Man GTX Gortex.
Having suffered painful feet when walking I decided to spend more on a pair of shoes. The saleslady guided me on the purchase & I would like to marry her, as after 3 years 6 holidays and fair useage they are still in good condition, and are like an old friends. Mine are black in colour, and polish up like new, like walking in slippers. The only negative like all shoes a little warm in hot climates.
Just go buy a pair. (read more)

“I had 9 pairs of Clarks wich are now in the garbage....”

Written on: 06/07/2010

I had 9 pairs of Clarks wich are now in the garbage. One particular pair of slightly used shoes totally desintegrated on me within 2 hours of wearing them, the soles on both shoes splitting from front to back. At an event, I had to run to buy shoes. Asking the company to tell me how long their shoes could last. The company responded by saying that Clarks shoes must be worn everyday or almost everyday to last five years, and should not be allowed to dry up. If you think you are paying more... (read more)

Tomgeorge's Comment

Exactly the same happened to me this week - Clarks have obviously changed their suppliers and are using substandard material for their shoes. They should not be allowed to sell goods not fit for purpose.

“I always try to by Clarks Shoes for comfort and value...”

Written on: 02/10/2006 by jonathan kelly (108 reviews written)

I always try to by Clarks Shoes for comfort and value for money. I presently have two pairs bought in the after Christmas sales. A pair of EFS Trainers which were bought in the sales after Christmas before last and are still going strong, they cost £40.

Also I have a pair of slip ons extra wide Aspers, which cost only £25. That was 9 months ago and they are breaking in nicely. (read more)

It's always a great find when a store carries Clarks Shoes and has new colors! They are very comfortable with timeless designs. I have owned a number in the past and will buy more. (read more)
